Flush
Here is a solution I found for a table that isn't smooth. After looking around for a couple weeks I stumbled across big viking mats. These mats are thick and cover grooves or channels that some kitchen tables have, like my table. It plays a little fast but that makes pitching cards the long way very easy. My group really liked it. It's a small operation in the north west. The owner couldn't find what he needed and decided to produce these himself. I love my big biking playmat.
The pic shows how someone used as part of their table project. Good stuff.
