More Hustler Casino Live Drama - Andy Accused of Stealing Chips (1 Viewer)

Jesus. This guy has a problem. I can’t imagine why somebody who has $500,000 would steal $10k from the guy next to him.
ON CAMERA, WHEN IT WAS THE GUY’S ONLY TWO $5K CHIPS.
That’s like kleptomania.

The $300 clip I can see being an honest mistake. The 10K in chips, I dunno. It could be just in error with him fumbling his shuffle and thinking those chips were his as well. But I know when I'm shuffling if I suddenly added two more chips to the stack I was originally shuffling, I'd feel the difference and notice it.

A lot of people are saying why would Andy take such a paltry sum (compared with the amounts of money he regularly plays for). But look at Winona Ryder, she was stealing stuff from stores not because she needed it financially, but because she had a compulsion to do so. Theft isn't always motivated by financial desperation.

That’s exactly what I thought. The guy was only shuffling like 6 or 8 chips. You notice that difference.
It’s possible that he didn’t set out to steal those two chips. But he noticed them. And again, it’s possible he thought maybe, possibly they were his. But there’s no way he wasn’t uncertain. And yet, he decided they were his, whether they were or not.

i saw this on reddit this morning. the pitchforks are certainly out, but i'll play devil's advocate and say that i do believe this was most likely a mistake. the look to me could easily read "oh fuck i just dropped $10k, gotta be more careful"

the casino knows exactly what each stack is supposed to be throughout the stream and he clearly knows this.

he is also adamantly denying it and offering to take 5 lie detector tests, for whatever that's worth:

Looks like he just took a fresh shuffle stack of chips from his main stack and started shuffling? That would make the "I thought I dropped two chips" even more believable
It does. But I keep coming back to overall awareness. That guy’s stack is so close to his. I have a really hard time believing he didn’t notice that and didn’t notice that the guy had his two $5ks out front.
I can only speak for myself, but if somebody’s stack is that close to mine, I’m extra aware of it and pay attention to make sure something like this doesn’t happen.

I think this is the most likely, but as @Anthony Martino commented, I can feel the difference when I'm shuffling chips quite quickly honestly. But I think it's stupid that Andy would try and "steal" the chips as they're definitely RFID tagged and HCL knows what the correct stack sizes should be.

My personal stupid opinion, Andy wanted to see the reactions of HCL and viewers. It's easy for him to defend himself - why would he take $10k? Maybe he wanted to be involved in some drama. LOL. Who knows I'm an idiot anyway.

I’m a compulsive shuffler and play a lot of linit where there are stacks er’ywhere.

Zero chance he thought those were his chips. You know how many you cut out to shuffle - it’s typically the same amount. With me, I do 10.

If I suddenly grabbed two random chips I’d feel it instantly.

Plus, he had just put those down to shuffle. The chips he picked up were after his first shuffle. You feel it if a couple slip out.

I’d like to see the 60 seconds before this to see if he started shuffling to scoop the $5Ks sitting outside his neighbors stacks or if he starting shuffling and just opportunistically picked them up - but he definitely intentionally grabbed them and knew they weren’t his IMO (unless he’s just never shuffled chips before which is obviously unlikely).

And furthermore, I realize this kind of analysis is bullshit, but his behavior when the staff came out and started asking about his stack seems totally suspect to me. Kinda defensive, kinda just overly involved in a weird way - not sure how to put it into words, but he seemed to me to act exactly like somebody who just got busted.

I agree with this, plus his eyes darting towards them. If two of my chips hit your stack accidently, I'm definitely getting your attention before scooping them away just to make sure its obvious, I'm not reaching a stinky pinky out to scoot them towards my stack lol.

having played at Hustler, those chips are slippery as hell (though I guess I've only touched the $5 and $100 chips, sadly not wealthy enough to have handled $5k). So I can believe mistakenly thinking that two chips just fell out of your shuffle stack.

But like others said, he got weirdly defensive about it.

what a shame, I always thought Andy was a standup guy.

Sure, if you shuffled them for a while. But it looks like he’s just cut those out. I’ve played at Hustler and Bike and those chips are slippery but you still know what you cut out.

I work in a fraud related field and happen to be a fraud examiner. I’ve seen people with incredible multi six figure jobs doing cushy work who committed the dumbest frauds for very small amounts relative to their pay. I’m not saying Andy did it intentionally or not, but the size of the assets in question doesn’t bear in my evaluation of the evidence. Intent is very hard to prove but I’d say the most common way it’s proved is with a pattern of behavior. At a certain point it stops being an accident.

Protect your stacks people.

is there any footage of him before the grab? how long were they out there for, did he eye them? does he always look down after one shuffle?

Lol.

Ditzy girl makes boner play that works out good, massive investigation occurs that finds nothing. Nobody saw anything or found anything. “Hang her and her lowlife friends”

Guy blatantly steals two chips, video verified it, chip counts verify it - people are like “I don’t know, there’s not much evidence”

Video shows all of that
Ah, I only watched the slowed down version. Clicked the links to the full.

Looks like Mike wins a pot at 1:03:05 and places the two purples in front of his stack at that point, visible at 1:03:24. Andy adds on $200k at 1:20:45, adding a few tall purple stacks, starts shuffling those. At the beginning of the 1:21:12 hand, he grabs a fresh stack and shuffles the chips, his pinky makes contact with the two purples of the other guys stack and he picks them up. It happens fast and plays it off like a sloppy shuffle where chips got released...but I didn't watch the video close enough to see if he saw those two in the 17 minutes that they were sitting out there.

Didn't look like intentional theft to me. I also don't see the "weirdly defensive" behavior. I would certainly want to verify before I gave somebody 10k as well and would also be embarrassed to have accidentally taken that much from a neighbor. Glad Mike caught it, and he should certainly mind his stack better. 2 high value chips shouldn't be off alone like that, stack them on top of full barrels for easy visibility.

Can't wait to see next episode of Poker Jeezus when you adress that news...
Always great to watch you buddy...

Problem #1 - there are incredibly too many chips in play
Problem #2 - its an RFID table that has been play for a significant amount of time, its easy to see they need more room
Who puts 2x 5k chips in front like that? You're asking for drama, MikeX puts the odd (3rd one) from a pot he won on top like it should be.

I don't peal off a set amount of chips when I'm shuffling, sometimes it even sometimes its odd.
on the 5k chips - He didn't see the chips prior to splitting the chips, the motion is natural.
on the 300 chips - it was what I thought before he said it, the 3 chips would make the stack even.

Andy jumping to 'check the cameras' immediately is the only odd behavior, there was very little discussion, it could have been because of the 300, he learned the best way to deal with it; but he had to know if he stole them it would tell, so hard to think either of these were intentional.

The guy typically buys in for 1/2 a mil, and you think he really cares enough to take 10k?

Next time he might shake his @$*!

I retract my original opinion.

I saw the clip of Andy taking $300 from Art a couple times in disbelief. That one was pretty blatant. The chips were clearly in Art's stack, and the way the chips fell means it's literally impossible for them to have been Andy's chips, so he must've known they were Art's.

My benefit of doubt for him for accidentally scooping 10k completely vanished, and I think he may just have a kleptomania issue.
