Sure I am in the minority view on this, but I don't want to be the host that's too lazy to have change ready. My bank starts with $50 in coin, singles, and fives (usually something like 3-5 dollars in quarters, 20-something dollars in singles and 20 something in fives.)

That said, I get the appeal of doing without coins. And 95% of the time, players will just include the coins in their tip.

But I want to be ready and act without presumption when I perform cash outs.

I am very surprised by the number of you dealing with singles, and especially quarters. No judgement at all, just surprise given how much many of you are spending on chips.

You have to keep in mind the players at the games too. If you’re playing a .25BB game then a dollar is 4 blinds/an opening raise. Some people buy in for $20, that’s 5% of a starting stack, etc.

Whether or not people want to accept the smaller bills/coins, I think it’s nice for the host to make it available. If they want to round or agree to something else, that’s the call of the players, but ultimately it’s their chips and they have the right to the cash back if they want it.

I generally throw people quarter if they are at like 109.75 for their cash outs.

I typically go to the dollar, but I have rounded down to the $5 with the excess funding the night's bonus. I stopped the $5 round down though because players were flipping their sub $5 amounts, leaving the bonus to be funded out of my pocket.

$30 buy-in game. I suspect dollars mean less if you are playing $500 buy-ins

Sometimes I have 1s, 5s, and 10s in the bank to make change. When I don't we round to the down to the nearest dollar to what's in the bank. If they have loose leftovers they can do a round of flips or baseball for the remaining bank. Most of the time the left overs are donated to the house for hosting.

If you have players who are fighting you for those few dollars to make it exact as possible I'd keep an eye on them especially if they aren't bringing food/drinks to the game to share. Just saying :)

100%. I had one of those "takers" once just take a chip out of my (playing) stack to round themselves up when they were cashing out for the night (game still going).

I think my face and "What the fuck did you just do?" comment was probably priceless for the others at the table.
