There are people out there who have trouble shuffling cards for other reasons than they don't know how to shuffle.

And it's not like this is the first automatic card shuffler to be created. I like how compact the unit is. I just wish it shuffled bridge size cards.

im surprised they can't adjust it slightly to make one that fits bridge sized...

So I decided to order one of these. My brother in law had a stroke last year and only has the use of one arm. I figured this would be great for him. What cards are you using? The cards that came with it work flawlessly however the cards I have do not. They only work for about half the deck then they just stay in the hopper. The cards I have seem slightly larger then the cards provided.

Used the Lotus shuffler for the first time last night. It was a big hit especially with my friend with one arm. He kept saying how a particular player had shuffled many many hands for him and won't have to anymore.

The battery that was included was a tad too small and wouldn't work. The owner said he thought it was a defective batch.

Update - it wasn't the battery, it's a design flaw. The battery can drop down a little bit not making contact. Someone put some folded paper or something over the bottom of the battery to hold it in place and the problem stopped. Not sure exactly what it was he put in there and I don't want to check. If it's fixed, don't break it. I threw away one good battery before we figured it out.

Pro tip - it's fairly easy for your hand to hit the 2-deck shuffle when putting the cards in, and you have to wait for an extra shuffle. I turn the shuffle buttons away from me and rarely hit the wrong button. Just remember to hit the right button as it's reversed.

I've only used 2 setups. Fournier EPT Poker Size and Broken Arrow Cardroom Professional Series Poker size. Both work as expected. Had more players use the shuffler with Broken Arrows citing they were too slippery to shuffle. Rookies!

A funny little machine, I’d buy one, but the problem for me is that in theory you can predict which card is at the bottom if you watch carefully. (Although, the same goes for hand shuffling.)
For example, with a DM, every card has an equal chance to end up anywhere in the next deal. A pure random number generator. Players have nothing to complain about.

I have one player (my wife) who believes in “luck,” a “lucky hand,” and that if someone touched the cards, they disturbed some special order… of what was meant to happen… She’s a very rational person, but when it comes to cards, you might as well bring a crystal ball into the room!

In short, a random number generator is absolutely essential… But I don’t have the money for a DM.

2. Quit watching shit so closely. Just because your neighbors curtains are open doesn’t mean it’s morally right to look in their windows.

I used to play with a guy who thought it was his job to see if he could “peek” any cards being dealt. With a couple of dealers he would say “I saw that” about every other card being dealt, resulting in multiple misdeals constantly. Nobody else ever watched that close, we weren’t looking for angles. We finally told him to quit watching when cards were dealt, it became that irritating.

It's not me who does this, but my wife...
All this is understandable, but thank God our game is quite relaxed. Good alcohol and food help smooth out the rough edges.

In fact, hand shuffling can be quite good and fast if you have the skill.

Ok, experimenting here. I purchased a Lotus shuffler for another buddy so I fugured I would run it through the paces. And low and behold using a Broken Arrow Professional Bridge deck I had no problems with it working at all. Notice I even just dropped them in not trying to be centered or anything. Only filmed one pass but ran them through multiple times off camera without a single jam or failure.

Forgive my filming with hand held phone cam..... Will try and do a couple more videos when I get home tonight or tomorrow.

I haven't talked to the owner yet to see if he had made some adjustments to work with Bridge cards or not. May make these more of an alternative.

Just to complete my testing by running multiple Bridge size cards through this shuffler. I have emailed the owner but gotten no response, I don't beleieve there have been any adjustments made for Bridge size cards, just works out some work and others don't. I believe it has something to do with card texture.

I ran an assortment of different brands of Bridge cards with varying results:

Angels (Passed)
Desjgns (these are Modiano stock) (Passed)
Kems Circlebacks (Passed)
Broken Arrows Professional Series (Passed)
Gemaco Superflexs (partial failed)
Dal Negro Grand Slams (Passed)
Fournier/Congress 2826 (Failed)
And just for @Himewad..... Uno Cards (partial fail)

Conclusion: Sure wish this handled Bridge cards better. Handles Poker size cards without issues. Overall for what it is it's pretty good, very small form factor and built very well. Should last over time but could use an alternative power option (9V batteries....ugg), Wouldn't be seeing use in any game not using Poker size cards for me but that is very few and far between. My buddy likes it so it was a good purchase for the price point.
