Wanted Looking for 2 racks each of THC $0.25's and $1.00's (1 Viewer)

Hello chippers. I'm very new here. Trying to build my 1st set and I scored some $5's and $25's already. Looking to round out my set with some quarters and singles of the THC mold to match my others. Basically looking to get around 100-200 $0.25's and the same for the $1.00's.

Nothing has arrived yet, but I have on the way 200 x $5 Outpost and 100 x $25 Cajun Cup, all in excellent condition. Nothing is mint and I really don't want or need mint, but very good to excellent is preferable. The will be played with and not meant to sit on shelf for resale later.

If you have anything like that that you'd like to show me, I'd love to see it. I've noticed a lot of $.025's are solid. While I'm not opposed to this completely I'd love to get ones that have markings or edge spots. I'm new to the lingo game too, so dumb it down for me please lol.

Welcome! And good luck in your search. Those Outpost $5s are one of my favorite chips; they're a workhorse in my THC set. You are correct that most 25c (and even 50c) are solids and that many of those are Hot Stamps at that.

I don't think it's impossible to pickup THC spotted 25c chips, but it's not easy (or cheap). Aurora Star chips might work. Here's an example you could specifically ask for: https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/100-x-as-quarters.61228.

At the end of the day, it might be easier/cheaper for you to find a chip you like and order labels to put over the denomination. Like this (these were PCA 50c Chips): https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/catch-release-relabeled-pca-fracs-1-rack.44666/

The $1s are way easier. I think your biggest question is what color matches your set the best. The answer is blue.

Nice score. Just keep in mind the chiPs you have coming kb are leaded meaning if you pair them with unleaded chips AS/ES/etc you might notice and mind the difference in weight. Not saying it’s guaranteed just something to keep in mind.

I know you have not gotten in your chips yet, but I would always recommend posting pictures with what you have next to each other. While almost everyone that comments knows what these chips look like, it can help in making specific recommendations that flow well with what you have. You may want to wait for them to come in before pulling the trigger on some more racks, unless something you really love pops up.

A great point! I have mine paired with unleaded. I don't really notice or mind the difference. To me, the Outposts feel amazing while my other chips in the mixed set only feel great.

I believe the seller of the Outpost's told me they were leaded, but I was unaware about the Cajun Cups. It doesn't matter as I still would've bought them because they are pretty and in nice shape.

So, being new to this, when people say the chips are leaded that is literal, right? They actually contain lead? This is safe and still a common practice? I do find that a bit odd, but maybe the lead is such a small amount to be considered safe.

They stopped making leaded chips in roughly 2006, because yes, they did contain actual lead. Try to avoid eating or freebasing them and you'll be fine.

- '98-'06 most colors were >1% lead.. except for 7 colors which were still the old 47%
- post '06 basically zero lead

Once you're done with THC, you can build another House Mold set!

I don't think leaded is a requirement. But even with just "THC, spotted, with an inlay", it's going to be hard and expensive. That's why I suggested an over labeled PCA frac.

That's called the hunt brother!! Serching old for sale ads, tracing down chips, wanted ads like this one but specific. The hunt is what makes this hobby fun. Waking in the door buying near mint THC paulsons isn going to happen off the break (Congratulations on your finds so far) blue Paris $1s, Strat $1s and a few others are THCs that are still in play at the casinos. These can be found relatively easy, but not many casinos use THC chips and a lot less utalized THC fracs. Finding them in playable quantities is difficult! With edge spots it's much, much more difficult! The outpost fracs exist, just gotta shake them loose as we call it! Best of luck with the hunt!!

Inlaid spotted THC quarters? Not many of those available for sure. Empress Star and Aurora Star are your best bets. ES are about 800 a rack and AS are what, 300 a rack?

And you wouldn't be making any big mistakes by building an all Outpost cash set. Very cool set. They are out there and show up from time to time on the classifieds. And they come in different grades so something for different price points. Heck, @RainmanTrail was saying earlier that he couldn't auction off used $5s for $75 or some stupid price like that. Yeah, brown is kind of meh, can't argue that. The pinks are fire though.

I don’t believe they were used as roulette chips. I can weight them later and let you know.
