Hello and welcome to the community! Thanks for sharing your collection so far! Just wait to see how many chips you will have a year from now. I'm sure your collection will grow quite a bit!

Hello and welcome!

Do you plan to get a collection of single chips to admire, or do you want to acquire sets to play with?
when I see people mention "sets" are these custom made chips? or are they casino chips that you collect until you have a whole set with all different denoms?

Interesting to see this post.

You have the exact same perception of “chip collecting” as I did when I first joined this forum. I had assumed it meant collecting single chips from casinos…probably older ones. It turns out people collect entire playable casino sets of chips! I would have never thought people could do that.

People also collect entire sets of chips made for the public that may or may not be rare or out of production.

I personally don’t do any of that. I joined this forum assuming it would be mostly people talking about personally designed full custom chip sets or nice premade chips. That’s what I’m personally in to. That is here but just a part of the “community”. A pretty major part …but just one segment.

Despite not being a collector or even having interest in that part of the hobby I’ve stayed on this forum because there is a lot to learn and a lot of great info in general ….on custom chips, tables, cards, setting up games, rules, and other non related subjects.

Hope that provides some context for the forum.

Answered it perfectly, thanks! and yes I thought it was just single chips, but just browsing through forums, you see what more is to offer.

Welcome to the forum. I joined to look at DIY poker table builds, then because I had starter chips for my table, looked at various chips available for cash and tournament sets for my home games from various sources on here. Of course I had to buy better poker chips, so the monthly group buys were a good source to get a nice set of affordable chips. I've been to Vegas many times, played in most of the strip poker rooms while my wife was out shopping, and doing her thing. It never once crossed my mind to collect Casino chips....that is until PCF.
As mentioned, this is a great place to lighten the wallet....and yes, I have since purchased casino chips of most of the casinos, past and present.
