What's up, nice to meet everyone. Joined yesterday browsing some information for some chips I saw on Apache, and by the end of the day had purchased a few racks of Bellagio $1s. Expensive hobby forming! Just wanted to say I can't believe how helpful and responsive everyone is around here. I'm off to build a mixed cash game set based on the Bellagios, and would love to get your thoughts on some $5s and fracs to pair with it!

Welcome! You'll fit right in here.

As for fracs and $5s, would you prefer all house mold?

Welcome to the rabbit hole. And I know exactly what you mean - I joined in May and have bought just under 5000 chips - and I’ve been on vacation for the last month!

Yep, I think so... but as long as the chips are the same height when I stack and they feel about the same, I could be open to other options. Obviously I've seen some sets on here with house mold $5 Stardusts and Mirages that look gorgeous, but not too hopeful of finding something like that right away. For fracs, I'm even considering some Virgin City quarters.

LOL, thanks guys.
Last night, my wife saw some sample chips on the counter and said, "Are you buying more chips?"
"I'm thinking about it."
"How much do they cost?"
"Ummmm, well, I think you mean to ask, what are they worth..."
"But you already have so many chips downstairs. Why do you need more?"
"Those are for tournaments... need something for our cash game."
"I'm going to bed." :cautious:

Ya... we’ve all had a similar conversation with our spouses... lol.

Welcome to the forum, and check out the chip meetup action happening right now, in your own backyard.

Maybe attend next year?

Some of those Bellagio chips were from my trip in June. Glad they landed in good hands. I think you got a good deal on fantastic chips and also got them cleaned by @liftapint

Bellagio has some cool $3 and $5 chips that you could add as high denom chips (depending on your stakes)

Helluva start. I was watching those bella chips with interest and really wanted to buy them back but just couldn't justify it.

Thanks for harvesting! I would love to score some Bellagio $5s (or another house mold) if you know where I can get them ;)(y)

I know a place...it is a big casino in Vegas. Towards the back there is a poker room...:)

I am tinkering with perhaps making another trip out there in the fall. If I go I will let you know. The 5's look really good in person.

I think a complete Bellagio set would look awesome. You can buy 1,3, and 5s from the casino and then make fracs. What fracs do you plan on needing? or what are your stakes?

One idea (not cheap) is you could use the 3 dollar chips and relabel them as quarters or whatever fracs you need. Then your cash set would look something like

0.25 - 100
1 - 300
5 - 100

Pretty expensive but also pretty awesome. Good news is you could use this set for a few years and then cash in the chips if you decide you want the cash.

Here comes a stupid question ;
You mean for face value?

Yes. Best bet is the poker room. You can literally just walk up to the poker room cage and ask for a rack of 1's or a rack of 5's and they will sell them to you. They have so many games running - limit etc. that they don't question you.

If you want good condition then I suggest buying 3-4 racks and then sorting them back in your room or maybe in the sports book which is right next door. Then return the ones that are beat up. All the mint chips are just mixed in the with the old beat up chips.

Here comes another stupid question... if Bellagio were to some day swap out their chips with a new design, would they honor the relics? I assume anything I relabel is voided.

No. They typically offer a redemption period following the announcement of the new rack/chip line-up. After this period expires they have no obligation to (and won't) redeem them. This may vary state-to-state/gaming commission-to-gaming commission.

I assume anything I relabel is voided.

Not necessarily. If the labels are easy to remove I suppose you could remove them and redeem them. If you do full inlay replacement by Gear, they'd be voided/un-redeemable.

And after that, you can just walk right out of the casino with your backpack full of racks?

Yes. I walked out of Bellagio with 3-4 racks in my laptop case and no one cared at all. I probably did this 7-8 times in various casinos and never had an issue anywhere.

If the casino changes chips you will have a grace period of several months. Also think of it from the opposite perspective...if Bellagio changes chips your chips become even more valuable on the used market :) Honestly, I think you can't lose with collecting Bella chips. They will always be valuable and generally liked because of the prestige and cachet of the property.

Also cause they just look great!

If you relabel $3's to quarters, @Gear can do a label that goes on right over the existing label and can be later removed.

So if they change the rack, you can peel off the labels and exchange for the face value of $3 per chip.

YMMV.

Um, if these can be had in minty condition, I WANT SOME. Holy heck, that would be a GREAT set!!

My friend is a baller and plays 5-10 at Bellagio so he snagged a rack for me. I put them in the classifieds for a short time but no one wanted them so I sent them back. They were not mint. I suspect you would need 5 or so racks to cull out the bad ones and end up with 1 mint (ish) rack.

Mmmmmmmmmm....nachos....

Going back over this just brings back so many good memories.... that mexican place had killer lime margaritas that would put you on your ass. Hot sun, chilling by the pool, gambling all hours of the day or night. Vegas is my happy place !
