Hey all; been 12+ years since I've been on - can't even remember my old username or what email I had at the time.

I used to host a game and bought a bunch of different poker chips just because. I had to shut it down and sold most of my chips but kept the PNY's. never had them in play just thought they were cool.

I really regret not keeping my Samurai Palace chips.

Now I am building a pretty cool poker room in my basement of my new home; went to buy a new set of Samurai's and cant find them anywhere (at a decent price) -

SOOO......
any advice on where to grab 1000 or so Samurai's? I still have my sample set and damn they are amazing....

AND................

Any idea on what I have with these PNY's? thw $.25 and $.50 are not real PNY's - IIRC I got in on a group buy on here (or chiptalk) but i have no more info. May be looking to unload them to help offset the construction of the room, but really just want more info.

ONE MORE ASK:
It's been awhile since i've been in the "game" - IIRC there wre several websites selling true "casino-style" chips. Unless my google-fu is defective I don't find a lot of options anymore. Any advice as to where to purchase real-style chips?

12 years, so 2011. You've missed A LOT. Pretty much everything you want to buy is going to be in classified ads and private sales only.

Honestly it's probably been a bit longer than that.

Classic Poker Chips is your best shot at custom compressed clay semi or custom casino grade poker chips. They also have some stock sets like rounders, etc. and they make the Key West chips you can buy on the Key West casino site. Other than that, you can go to Brpro Poker for ceramics or hit the classifieds for Paulsons. The Chip Room will likely be selling some affordable RHCs soon too.

Welcome to PCF and back to the game!

IMHO, put those beautiful PNY's in play, put your wallet safely back into your pocket and run away!

Far, far away!

 :ROFLMAO:

Joking aside, I second @Tonysquander 's ^^^^, and also @FDLmold 's ^^^^ comments but also, welcome back!

Honest to goodness casino chips can routinely be had from sales of chips from closed casinos via sales from Jim @TheChipRoom ( https://www.pokerchipforum.com/forums/the-chip-room.21/ ) with sample sets as soon as next week. Classifieds are also a great spot to look for really good chips as well. "Casino style" chips are just that, casino "style".

It's probably not impossible that some Samurai Palace chips might start showing up in the classifieds before too long. There was recently a group buy with Matsuti that used the original art and colors that should provide a seamless addition to and exiting set or a start (or restart in your case) for those chips.

Again, welcome back and good luck and happy hunting in your quest.

Of course, @Big Money posts the Samurai's just after my post to help me realize I was actually thinking of the Zen re-order.

Dammit, I blame the Friday night bar-crawl. Yeah... that's it. Blame the beer.

(the thought and well wishes are still the same, booze be damned)

Sadly for clay, the answer is pretty much none. Paulson (owned by GPI) doesn’t sell to the public at all. GPI also owns BCC, and they’ve pretty much killed that brand. TRK is just gone (though CPC currently has the small crown mold.) So as far as compressed clays go, CPC (ASM) is the only accessible game in town.
As far as retailers reselling to the public, Apache usually has a few Paulson sets on hand. Spinettis has everything in the world, in terms of singles, and some stuff in quantity but the prices run high.
But yeah, as others have said, the best (and pretty much only) way to get the good stuff is through private sales with users here.
Also it’s tough to tell exactly what you’ve got there for PNYs because your picture isn’t great. You can search the past classifieds here to see what them they’ve sold for recently. “Recently” is important because everything at least doubled in value in the past 2-3 years. If you bought then a decade ago, they’re probably worth something like 4x what you paid.

PNYs: if you bought them 10+ years ago, you’ll be able to turn a huge profit if you sell. Most of the value in your pic is in the $20s, followed by the $1s, $2.50s, $100s, and fracs - roughly in that order. (Not too sure about the $2.50s since they don’t get sold very often)

I don’t see any $5s, so it might be hard to sell as a set - your best option would be to sell by individual denomination.

Your PNY fracs were made by the Blue Chip Company. They are real clay and pretty cool! Sadly BCC had been gone for like 15 years.

Thanks all -
It's fun (and about to be expensive) to be back!

There is a rack of $5's hidden in the pic.

I can't remember how to tell. I was in on the original group buy (I think on ChipTalk?) My memory sadly has faded, but I think* it was around 2004-ish.
Yeah... that's it. Blame the beer.
I see your "Blame the Beer" and raise my own "Blame the Bourbon"

Also, thanks all for the warm welcome back's

I really regret selling some of my sets (especially now being back) -
I had 1K of the Paulson Pharos; The custom High-Roller set; and my most missed Samurai's - good memories of playing with those.

Both totally possible to find now, but sadly at completely different prices than back in the day

I didn't login this weekend or I'd have replied sooner. Hopefully the PM to bigmoney works out for you. SP is extremely hard to find in quantities these days, generally I think I only see a 500+ set go up for sell once a year. It is an amazing set, read too many horror stories of people wishing they hadn't let a their set go to ever let my set go.

Also, if you’re used to 2011 prices, you won’t find anything at “a decent price.”
Yea -for sure and I realize (now) this was relative.

Definately what I am finding. I am so happy to see it for all the OG chip collectors; just hate it as a buyer/ renewed enthusiast.

3 of the 4 dealer buttons are "aftermarket" if you will. aside from that the NVC mint chocolates are probably my favorite chip.

Although I sold my complete set; this is still what I have from my samples - the
$1k is not pictured. It found it's way into another stack.

Only missing an NVC and a 1K. Sadly the 1k is one of the more varied color variants between early and later runs. :(
