Is a 300 piece set enough for a 9 person .25/50? (1 Viewer)

Its probably because amazon knows im just getting into the hobby and its populr with people just getting into it as well. I tried looking at chips on apache poker chips but the fact that it doesnt come with a case it doesnt seem as worth it to me. What do you recommend?
Look, it's your money. Get what you want. I wouldn't buy any pre-configured sets, because the breakdowns usually stink. Get samples, and listen to advice from experienced chippers. Buy the best chips for your budget, and get enough for your game, and the best breakdown for your stakes. There are decent options for 20¢/chip, 50¢/chip, all the way up to $5/chip and more.

You can buy just a Slowplay case. They look nice, but seem a bit overpriced, IMO. If you have a Harbor Freight nearby, check out their Apache 3800 case (not related to the poker chip site :) ). Durable, secure, and can easily hold 800 chips

You need to tell us your budget if you are thinking about value, you are going to lose money when buying retail poker chips.

Only casino grade plastic or premium Clay set are going to hold value.
Id say I have a budget of $150

What type of game do you play? Tournament or cash game? If cash, what stakes?

At $150, you're looking at inexpensive plastic chips. The Monaco from Discount Poker Shop set are my favorite of the the cheapies. The Outlaws and Lucky Horseshoe from the same site are similar. Decent soft material that stacks well and isn't too slippery. Here's the link. You can get 600 chips in a good breakdown, plus a case like this for your budget. If you can expand your budget some, you could probably get some cards molds from the classifieds for not too much more.

Once we know what kind of game you'll be playing, we can steer you in the right direction as far a good breakdown.

Like you say, personal preference, budget, etc. But overall I think your set is a good example for what won’t work for most people. You’ve got a total bank of $750. Even if you cap your rebuys at $50, you’ve only got enough bank for a total of 15 buyins and rebuys combined. Which is fine if you’re in a situation where people rarely rebuy or top off. But if you’re playing no limit, that probably isn’t realistic for most games.
Now that you mention it, that’s a good point. Bank is kind of small.
