Here's one of a couple of mixed casino cash sets I started building early last year. It's built around two of my favorite chips, the Casino Aztar Caruthersville secondary $1s and PCA secondary $5s. All chips are THC and have true shaped inlays (well except the starbursts, but they have a similar shape to the shaped inlays....:p) and all were riverboats or cruise ships. All are in mint to very good condition. I was originally looking for Empress $25s (the ones with the cream/tan edgespots), but I was having trouble finding those in good condition. When I saw the Palm Beach chips I thought they fit the flow of the set well enough (plus I liked the colors). I picked up the starbursts at a killer price to fill out the set, I think the charcoal color complements the $1s & $5s. Have been contemplating maybe changing to a blue starburst like horizon/day blue, but finding those with consistent coloring can been tough. I also have blue PNY apache hotstamped quarters that go well with the set, but I wanted dedicated quarters so the starbursts will work for now. Anyways onto the pr0n:

I love those $1's, I regret not getting them back when they were available cheap because I don!t like the $5 from the set. I didn't think at the time to do a great mixed set like this.

The fives in that set are horrendous, no idea what they were thinking. Really was a shame because every other chip in the lineup is awesome.

I don't recall those Aztar secondary 1s ever being "cheap". They were very limited in supply and didn't make it past the first offering.

Great mixed set, Irish! PCA sec 5 and Aztar (MO) sec 1 are a match made in heaven.

The $1/$5 combo is fantastic! Love the set.

Yep, that's the combo in my favorite mixed set as well. Two of my all-time favorite chips. But I've yet to find a $25 with that same shaped inlay that knocks my socks off -- been looking for a long time...

I was in the same boat, though there are very few $25s I like in general, let alone with that particular shaped inlay (and available). I thought the Palm Beach's were a nice contrast with the bright green base, and the orange and light blue spots somewhat ties them to the others. What are you currently using for a $25?

That's a beautiful set, Irish. Nicely done.

I use either the Aztar MO 818 secondaries, the GVs, or the Mesquite (large) Stars. My favorite is the Outpost $20, which I love, and which has the correct shaped inlay, but can't bring myself to put two white chips on the table together, even though the spots should be easily distinguishable....

I use these in my all-hub-inlay mixed casino cash set (Aztar $1, PCA $5, King 8 $100):

I'd rather use these, but they are pretty hard to come by:

.... with these hundos and quarters (unfortunately, no hub 25c chips out there that I've found):

Man those are nice, haven't seen either one of those $25s. Thanks for posting!

Sounds like a job for @Gear and his CNC. :whistling:
Actually, I can just do an inlay replacement (no milling necessary). But I just can't pull the trigger on mutilating these, when they can already be used in the hub-inlay set:

Of course, using them as-is means I have to change gears on the quarters:

Which is why I thought (hub) milling something like a monogrammed spotted hotstamp might be a better option than destroying something like a Capitol City $20. :)

Got a recommendation? Pink or yellow preferred, orange maybe....

Off the top of my head, this might be an orange option. Has the benefit of having small stamp, so a shaped inlay wouldn't be an issue.

I'd have to think about yellow/pink options.

Picked up some new quarters for my mixed set, Joker's Wild hot stamps. While I really like them a lot, I'm still debating whether they "fit" better than the charcoal starbursts I was previously using, the orange quarters are a little close in color to the PCA $5 than I would like.
