The definition of the word till

  1. A drawer, small chest, or compartment for money, as in a store.
  2. A supply of money; a purse.

Thought this interesting and appropriate for this forum.

It's only ever been card sharp in my vocab - never heard of card shark.

Shark, yes, in relation to cards/poker - shark, whale, fish etc - but just as a word in itself not combined like that.

I’m a card carp. I just stare at you while calling for my friend “Bob” every ten seconds or so

Coca Cola is made with slight variations in different countries. Saw in another thread that Mexico makes theirs with cane sugar as opposed to high fructose corn syrup used in the U.S, which makes it sweeter. Japan’s is more carbonated so it has more of a punch to it.

So are you saying McDonald's has declared its independence as a separate country?

This is true of lots and lots of food and drink. They tweak the recipes from country to country to better suit local tastes.

Or in the case of the US, they just load it with HFCS and know that we'll gobble it up anyway.

There’s a conspiracy theory that the new coke in the 80s was just a means to distract the change from sugar to hfcs in what is now classic coke.

Home game edition- I was today years old when I learned that the guy who 3bet spazzed all in on the flop heads up with 2nd pair a month ago also donk shoved for 15x the pot heads up with top set on a rainbow board two days ago.

Still exploitable, but not as predictable

I guess I always figured the company wouldn’t let the recipe be altered regardless of country and would rather export the necessary ingredients than allow modifications.

The idiom is both pound sand and pound salt. Didn’t know that!

"Go pound salt" is indeed the less vulgar version of "go pound sand," both meaning to "go away" or "buzz off". The original phrase likely comes from the longer, more explicit "go pound sand up your ass", and "pounding sand" itself refers to a pointless, futile, or menial task, such as trying to fill a rat-hole with sand. The phrase "go pound salt" is a more palatable variation that likely emerged because the act of pounding salt into crystals, like pounding sand, was a useless, low-level job.

I was today years old when I found out that when dieting and you're losing fat.. the actual fat loss largely leaves your body through breathing vs going to the bathroom/otherwise.

The fat molecules break down into carbon dioxide (~85%) and water (~15%).. all that carbon exhaled (~5% of the contents of your breath) over a long period of time is heavy and needs to come from somewhere if you're not taking in enough calories.

I'm not overweight, I'm under breathing!

I miss wrestling! This is why cardio is always best with my sweatpants tucked into my socks, it speeds up the passing out process so I don't have to do any more cardio.

I can't recall ever having heard someone say, "pound salt." It's always been, "pound sand" where I come from. Maybe we're just a bunch of vulgar pricks up in Alberta, Canada! :ROFLMAO:

I 'll bring up again the expression "Dutch Uncle" meaning an annoying @sshole.

On a related note, trees (and all other plants) do the exact opposite. When you notice a tree grow, other than the water it absorbs through its roots, practically all the new mass is carbon absorbed directly from the air.

after thinking Tommy had really messed up the resources page, as I couldn't find any of the Paulson fantasy chips listed,

Today like a dum dum I learned they are all here:
