I am challenged (just ask my wife). Although I have read all the threads on tournament set builds, I don't know if I have enough chips for a 10 person tournament, and, if I did, what the structure would be. Most of the threads concern higher denomination chips. I have attempted to buy additional $500 and $1000 chips, but the prices for PNY chips of those denominations are mind boggling. I am willing to buy more PNY chips if I have to, but not those 2 denominations. Here's my current chip breakdown:
  • $.50 100
  • $1 250
  • $5 200
  • $25 250
  • $100 200
  • $500 100
  • $1000 30
Can I make it work or should I sell off my $500 and $1000 chips?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give to a befuddled old guy.

I use a T2000 structure for my PNY set. I only need 150 T5s, 130 T25s, 100 T100s, and 20 T500s to run a 10-person tournament (no rebuys). Starting stacks are 15-13-6-2. Blinds start at 5-10.

You have plenty of chips. You could start with either a T1 or T5 base for 10 players. For a T25 base you’d need 45 more $1000 chips for my preferred breakdown of 12/12/5/6 to cover stacks and color ups

You have plenty of chips to run a T5-base two-table 400bb deep-stack tournament using up to T4000 starting stacks (10/10/7/4/1) with 5/10 opening blinds, with sufficient extras to color-up the lower denominations.

For single-table events, there are obviously enough chips to run even deeper T5-base tournaments, or smaller T25-base T5000 (100bb) tournaments using 12/12/5/1 starting stacks (with color-up chips).

Hmmm... 45 x $40 = $1800. I will see what my wife thinks before I pull the trigger ;)
