Hoyle cellulose acetate? (2 Viewers)

I was eyeing those, but I figured I'd wait until I received my setup before I pulled the trigger on them. But after getting feel of these cards, I'm not a buyer. I like a textured finish.
Yeah, they may not be to my liking once I open them, but it was a good chance to add a brand of plastic card to the collection, so worth the $15 for 2 decks.

I dont advise them. Very flimsy and flexible, bowed a bit, and if I dont grip them in my hand there's already slight bends/marks. Not a big deal, cheap, but I dont trust these.

After opening 1 deck, they are definitely cellulose acetate, as that smell is unmistakable. As said above, very glossy finish and fairly flimsy feeling. Not Kems, except like with some new out of the box Kems, these are also unfortunately bowed slightly. They seem to shuffle well, but I doubt they'd hold up long in regular use.

It’s funny to think about though. These Hoyle decks have probably been sitting on eBay for months or years. Then one guy asked one question here, and all of a sudden everybody’s buying. Congratulations eBay sellers; patience pays off!

I bought some years ago and I think I made a post that gained very little traction. I bought 2 red/blue setup with very cool (imo) back designs. Put them in play once and just could not get used to how thin they are. But they are very old and very cool. will have to post some pics of mine maybe tonight.

I saw those - the only problem with them is they’re the same, so no good for a two deck rotation. But if you play with a single deck, that’s a score.
or a canasta set or any other game where you use 2 decks to play

I actually own a Kem Canadta setup - I ended up just mix and matching a deck from a canasta setup with a deck from other Kem setups so I’d have two different decks.
The ONLY problem with that is the canasta setups all seem very flowery, so my players called me an old lady. But I can live with that, ha.

EDIT - I GUESS I POSTED ALL THIS STUFF BEFORE. HOW THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO REMEMBER WHAT HAPPENED A YEAR AND A HALF AGO?

I guess my chairs don’t help.

Yeah my set up is flowery kems that say Canasta on the backs (incase you forgot what game you're playing mid round), the canasta craze hit everyone. but absolutely every lady over 60 at this point, talks about how they'd play it every week with the ladies if you being the game up. I guess bridge was like that in the 40's too

And mixing 2 decks that don't match are fine, it's just kind of nice to have one back design/color. So someone isn't holding one red card in a sea of blue cards as you go crazy staring at it

They’re definitely not KEMS. They’re a lot thinner and a bit flexier and they have a smooth, non-textured, almost glossy finish. They don’t remind me of any deck I’ve ever handled. They seem to shuffle and pitch well though, so they could be a good setup. Though they don’t feel like they’re going to be durable, for whatever that’s worth.
Here are the face cards and here they are, 52 stacked next to a deck of 52 KEMS. They do seem to have a slight bow, (straight out of the 30 year old plastic wrap) so they’re not totally unlike KEMs, ha!

Thinner than Kems??? And "a lot" thinner??? How is that even possible? When you toss the cards towards the muck, do they float away like they're in the opening credits of Forrest Gump?

Telling you, they feel very, very thin. Stiff wind may reveal a pip. Makes Fournier feel like tombstones.

I never even considered putting the Hoyles in play. And I love KEMs.
But the picture speaks for itself.
