How much change kept on hand? (1 Viewer)

$50 bills are bad luck...you can’t use them to buy in at my house.

I take all forms of legal US currency. If you really believe they are bad lucky, maybe it the player and not the money.

I had a guy buy in for $100 in $2 bills thinking he was funny. I took it, and made sure to give most o them back to him when he cash out.

I have ~ four inches of change. A pile of small bills, sorted for easy use, four inches tall.

How much is that? Other than "enough", I can't say. But it is enough. I haven't gone to the bank for change in a long, long time.

I do buy in with small bills when playing in other people's games. And I encourage my players to do the same with me. Small bills after the session go back into the pile.

No kids at home anymore = no leakage -=- DrStrange

I always feel like I don't have enough small bills for poker night and always end up having too much. Never really been an issue, but then again most players will round down to the nearest five or have a loose single to round themselves up.

ever wonder why they never pay you with $50 bills at the casino ?

I usually keep 50 in my "till" about 20 in fives, 25 in singles, and 5 in quarters. Most players still leave their change for the house, but I feel it's presumptuous not to be prepared, and on net, the players that appreciate my attention to detail tip more freely anyway. I make sure to buy in myself for tens and twenties so I can be ready to break larger bills as needed.

I add about $2 in dimes and nickels to my till for my micro game (0.10 chips) because the payouts are obviously smaller.

I don't recall answering this sort of thread in the past, but if other threads exist, I have forgotten :).

during tournaments I only carry $5s for change as we round up

dealers choice I do my own buy in as 2$20's, 2$10's, 4%5s and 20$1s, that usually covers it all the way around, if it dosent most will eitehr tip host to a round number or we play 1 hand of high card to win the rounded off monies

Had a similar experience recently: a younger guy in our group bought in partially with a full roll of $1 coins. I made sure he got it back when we cashed him out! :ROFLMAO:

Our .25 / .50 Cash Game rounds to the nearest $5 to cash out. The change from that goes into a "Scrubs" pot, where we deal a hand face up, and the winner takes it all.

For .25/.50 $100 max, one full table, I want roughly $30 in ones, $50 in fives, and $60 in tens. I always run out of fives before anything else it seems, so I keep a lot.

I cash out to the dollar - nobody ever asks me for change because they know I will laugh my ass off at them.

Also, a couple of my players have gotten smart and will bring small bills for their first buy-in. These are the guys who get dibs on the good whisk(e)y and beer.

I like this idea a lot, because keeping a stack of ones in my bank is just a PITA.

Once I start hosting live games again, I will probably steal it. It doesn't work for those who leave early, but maybe that'll encourage them to stay later!

The ones who leave early tend to do a good job of rounding, or busting out. Or if they are in the $4.50 range someone might toss them a couple .25 chips. Most nights it's only $10-15 at the end of the night.

I keep like 6x $5 and 4x $10 at home, and never have to worry about change.

This usually does the trick!

I have about $20 in quarters and another $5 or so in dimes and nickels to cash out my 0.10/0.20 cash game.

Besides that, I try to buy in initially with all $1's and re-buy in $5's so there's low bills to cash people out with exact change at the end of the night.

Everyone pays in to my paypal then you can cash people out easily, thats what i prefer
Grunch. I hope your game is 100% legal in your jurisdiction. Also, doesn't PayPal and many similar aps prohibit use for gambling purposes? I take Venmo, PayPal or CashAp on occasion, but I don't think I'd do it for the entire game.

When I used to host, I got a few rolls of $1 coins and threw them in the poker box. For over 3 years, If change at cash out ever got tight, I always had enough.

The coins just didn't "leak" like paper money. Actually, I think I still have some.
