Rant incoming...

It's on the GM's for giving out these stupid ass NMC's. They're killing the NHL and made the league boring. No star players get dealt unless they ask out like Larkin, Hellebuyck, et al have.

It doesn't make it fun when they're all asking to play on the good teams in states with no state income tax. That's why you're seeing that they'll only waive to Tampa, Florida, and Vegas only. Nashville will suddenly become an ask once they start building up and contending too.

Limit the number of NMC/NTC each team can give out. Make the slots tradeable assets too. Anything to make things more lively. This is going to be the worst UFA crop since the dead puck era. Everyone has cap space and they're keeping their players and handing NMC's out like candy. Boring league in comparison to the NBA and NFL.

Limited number of NMC/NTC would certainly go a long way towards saving NHL GMs from themselves. I like it.

I also think that if a player with a NMC/NTC asks for a trade, the team should be allowed to trade them wherever they want to.

Add in a limited number of contract buy-outs (without staying on the cap) or a franchise player tag (with no cap hit) and we're off to the races.
