Cash Game How many 0.25 chips needed? (8 Viewers)

I can’t understand what people would consider the downside to having 200 quarters on the table?

I think it depends on how each crew plays. Not all .25/.50 games play "true" .25/.50. I host some nights where my .25/.50 game plays more like .50/1.00 or 1/2, and in those cases, having 200 quarters on the table is definitely overkill. They are there for the sake of posting blinds, and that's about it. In fact, we could probably get away with even less quarters on those nights.

I've also noticed that, sooner or later, one or two guys have 80% of the fracs in front of them. Everyone just gets change from those players, so all is good. But if 160 quarters were split between two players in a $100 buyin game, that could get a little silly. Just my $0.02 on this one.
200 quarters in my $.25/$.50 cash set
200 $0.50 in my $.50/$1 cash set

That said I like to have the option for 2 cash tables......but it is almost ALWAYS one table.

I don't need to justify, I just like chips bitches.

Note to OP... be aware that you are getting advice for two different concerns: some people are posting recommended quarters per TABLE and others are posting recommended quarters per CHIP SET.

These are two completely different matters.

True man.....I read it as he was buying a new cash SET.

either way -- GREAT advice from all

I prep my game usually at least 2 hours before. Two Days?!!!

Well sure!! :D I have a mixed set so there are all kinds of different permutations to try with the different quarters, number of quarters (obviously and to the point of the OP) , different $1's and $5's. Do I have some new chippies to introduce this month (probably). Plus different card set ups, dealer buttons, roller grill...

I dunno, I think 300 quarters is kinda the money.

Nah, I wouldn't recommend more than 200 for you.

(Personally, I usually use 600 quarters)

I love Mixed sets and is what I do for my games. It is like playing with a new set every game. I have a decent selection of quarters and most have at least 200 except I do have one that has over 300 (Gold Coast) and one quarter that only has ~120. Might have to get rid of the El Cortez if I cannot get up to two racks!!!

My current frac selection

Quarter wars!

Count me voting for 100 per table for .25-.50.

I like the @justsomedude (and I think also @abby99) method for doing barrels for the first five players, which is when we typically start.

Then subsequent buy-ins are all singles or all fives.
Correct.

My thinking: if you determine that a table needs 100 quarters, put them on the table with the first five players. To me it's counterintuitive to save some quarters for rebuys.

The only issue I would actually have against 200 quarters (or even dollars for that matter) is that I use a drawer, extra quarters means less precious drawer space.

I got drawers too... but space ain’t a problem...

But since I have my chips stored in their respective drawers, it’s much easier to dispense full barrels. If I’m running a tourney, I will prep starting stacks in advance, but I always run cash games afterwards and it’s not conducive to sort out cash game stacks too.. when I’m running the tourney, and busted players want cash chips, I jot over to the chip drawer (cage), and buy ppl in on the spot.... so the less counting out chips I have to do the better... I’ve actually had games where I’m at the tourney FT and a cash game is jumping at the other table, and they’ll have 3-4 people needing to rebuy at the same time... lol.

Ps... “but space ain’t a problem...“. Ok, that’s kind of a lie. I’ve long since run out of drawer space, but the most used sets get stored there. Each drawer fits 2000 chips.

That's just sick.

In the mortal realm, I've got 170 quarters in my Samurai set. When I load a case with 500, I typically plan for between 100 and 160 quarters depending the crowd. If I expect more action, I'll go with less and a higher bank. With a tamer group, I'll load up on the quarters to have more chips in play.

I said NICE. But I think you’re more accurate with that being sick! That’s insane! Love seeing pics like that

I just got a Bellagio Set and for my needs I wanted 200 quarters. My thoughts were every once in a great while we have enough players for 2 tables so we can still have the 100 per table and be fine. If only have one table for that night then I'll have up to 160 fracs on it if we have 8 guys for the night. First buyin always gets a barrel in that case. Works for us.

One rack is fine. Honestly I’m a fan of 120 quarters for 8 or 9 players. But a rack is fine.

1 rack of 25c is enough for 25/50c stake game but if you are playing 25/25 stake, I can see the reasoning to use more than 1 racks of 25c

Depends how much it costs. If that 2nd rack is another $1200, it would give me pause.
Funny, I need to learn this lol.

1 Thing I hate about tournaments is constantly making change. Is it hard? No. Is it easier not to? Yes! I say a barrel of fracs/person. Especially if they're pretty:

You don't have to put them all on the table...but it's nice to have them especially if a 2nd table is needed...

Ok now u gotten 2 racks of fracs, u just need 3 more racks of $5 to finish the set :D

Well, I may not always understand it. I am a fan of giving the people what they want. Our guys like to start out with five bucks in quarters so more quarters it is.

I'm in the you can't have enough fracs camp. Most of my cat sets have at least 200 fracs, some more. One has 800. Guys I play with love the fracs, and, so do I. I hate being at games that only have a handful of fracs and constantly having to make change, or, making sure change was made. Plus, I know players that love hoarding them, building walls of them. I'm cool with that.
