Perfect time for the sale!!

Wifey: What do you want for Christmas?
Me: Nothing
Wifey: Nothing? Why nothing?
Me: Cos I'm gonna buy something later.
Wifey: Better not be poker chips.
Me: I promise, nothing poker related this year.
Wifey: Shall I get you a gift certificate then?
Me: Sure, find out if The Chip Exchange has them.
Wifey: WHAT?!?!?! You said no more poker stuff
Me: Yes dear, THIS year :)

I can work of a gift certificate for her...:)

I only 'need' 240 x 25, 240 x 100 and 60 x 500. All secondaries :)

Now that would be cool, but totally unfair to everyone else :p

I'll wait in line like everyone else, and mash the heck out of my keyboard on the first to try to get that!

Zero hundred hours plus one second. You got the date right, mate...now set that timer accordingly and lets make my prognostication official.

When you say 12.00.01 am, do you mean noon or midnight? (lol 12hour clock) I would say midnight on new years is a particularly bad time to have a sale, because most people would be busy with other stuff than sitting by their computer, such as celebrating with family and watching fireworks.

@The Chip Exchange

Just want to suggest you re-look at New Years Day as the sale date. Many of us will have a hard NYE and will be super hung over and wanting death to come. Chips won't be in some of our minds lol

Only the strong get chips ;). ie those that can fight through a hangover to get the chips they want!

"am" means midnight.

My original post was made in jest. I'm not surprised by a post-Christmas date, but I wouldn't have expected a 1/1 release date, and certainly don't expect a midnight launch.

On the other hand there's probably the fewest people with work obligations anywhere in the world on 1/1. At the risk of sounding like a dick if getting these chips is important one may need to exercise a bit of self control the night before depending on the time in your area. Prioritize as you see fit. Just sayin'.

Love those secondaries. I just wish they had copied the golden horseshoe from Cleveland's inlay instead of the more faded look on these

Which casino was bigger (and likely to have had more chips)?

Which casino was bigger (and likely to have had more chips)?

I seem to remember people talking about similar numbers at least. Refrences to the likes of 400.000 and 500.000 + chips for both casinos. Dont know whats accurate.

It will be interesting to see the pricing, and to see how much left over money people have to spend on this after the huuuge cleveland lot.

Others have said Cleveland was bigger. How much bigger though... I don't know
If you want to get nerdy about it you can dig through the Ohio Casino Control commission quarterly reports. For all practical purposes I think they were identical. Cleveland might have been authorized to have one more table game. The only question would be how much larger the poker room was.

Multiple media reports stated that Cleveland had to change out 407,000 chips, which, when you add roulettes, tournament and WSOPs to Jim's figures is probably about right. I was only able to find one media report concerning Cincinnati and that was a TV news station report where they said "nearly a half million" but I suspect that was journalistic rounding.

but I suspect that was journalistic rounding.

Journalists never embellish the facts! :D:ROFL: :ROFLMAO:

Man up boys.
Obv solution is obv..... just don't stop drinking until after the sale. You avoid the hangover issue (at least in regards to the time of the sale), and wait, bonus! -- you likely end up with more chips since you won't give two shits about how much they cost. Win-Win. :)

TCR published his count of Cleveland cash checks:
363,000 primary and secondary chips.
Dunno how many Cincinnati chips TCE purchased.

Good idea, don't stop drinking until you buy your chips.

This way when you do wake up the hangover won't be soooooo bad !!!!!!!!!!!!

OR WILL IT ????

TCR published his count of Cleveland cash checks:
And keep in mind that Jim listed primary and secondary value chips only. That does not include roulettes, tournament and WSOP. I thought I read somewhere that he had about 400 roulettes per color and number, so that's 22,400 more right there. Throw in the tournament/WSOP and you're probably in the low 400s which is right about what the Cleveland media was reporting.

Yeah, i know but thanks for clarifying. I was just thinking about numbers that were refrenced in other threads (newspaper links or something) prior to thechiproom telling us the final count for cleveland.

A Canadian Wifey? @Wifey : Do you have something to tell @Gear ? ;)
Actually good friends with Mesnik44's wife! Was happy to welcome another female into the regular poker game back in the day. I just happened to snag the handle in here...Gear first called me "Wifey" about 5 minutes after the Justice of the Peace pronounced us hitched back in 2002.

I haven't had a chance to read through the entire thread yet but will prices and limits be posted prior to the sale?

I am trying to figure out if I need to save up or make room...

Pretty sure he said he would post ahead of time.

High denoms limited quantity only available as part of sets.

Lower commons by the rack.

No prices yet, but I'd imagine somewhere in the ballpark of the Cleveland chips. Guessing

A limit set out of the two's would be really sweet. Easily my favorite chip that is being offered.

Cost/Limits on the $2 chip is what has me curious here. A limit set would be cool.
