Hi all, newbie here from Atlanta Georgia.

I started my poker chip journey looking to put together a Blackjack set but because when I do something I do it right, now I'm thinking about cash game and tournament poker as well. Looking for low denomination up to 100 with a sprinkling of 500 and 1000 chips. I hope I can put something together with 25c 50c and 2.5 snappers. Paulson THC with similar labels.

Ideal mix: 25c-2 rack, 50c-1 rack, 2.5-1 rack, $1-1 rack, $5-1 rack, $25-1 rack, $100-1 rack, $500-50, $1000-50

I'm looking for the Cadillac lol. I see I can buy a good set of casino chips on apache poker chips and really like the Horseshoe chips there but I can't get it with all the fracs so I think it's best to wait for the right full set? Am I wrong? For as much money as it will cost I would rather do it right the first time.

I'm dreaming aren't I?

Buy what you can and then make the fracs from something else. Original fracs from casinos are either hard to come by or a lot of the time don't exist.

Depends on what you mean by “all the fracs.”
Casino sets with actual casino fracs (not relabeled chips) are difficult to find to begin with. You say you’re looking for .25 and .50 fracs - there are VERY few casinos that had both. It’s generally one or the other, if either. And then in practice, there are very few PCFers who would use .25s and .50s in the same game - it’s just inefficient and unnecessary.
Do what you want, of course. But if you’re holding out for a casino set with original casino fracs in both .25 and .50 denominations, know that there are very few options out there, and the few that do exist would be on the more expensive end of the spectrum if you found somebody willing to sell.

There are different approaches, saying your looking for a Cadillac, seems to be a more budget focused.

A set I would consider a Cadillac would cost around 14k. It would be about 1000 chips. This is the top of the line but not considered a specialty set, you can run the budget up 2x quickly.

I think rather than worrying about a budget, start with identifying your needs and go from there.

I changed my minds . I'd love a rack of snappers to go with it for 3:2 blackjack payouts on a $5 minimum but that would be icing on the cake.

Yea I was kinda thinking it may work to just buy some snappers from a local casino. I can probably get 2 barrels for $100

CPC is the answer in my opinion. You can get the exact quantity of whatever denomination you want with a custom inlay. Do it right the first time right there

I would reiterate the above, either CPC and create what you want/plan to use
Or buy a mostly whole set and fill in the fracs or snappers later on as you find them, or relabel them from other available chips.
Fracs are commonly scarce, along with the snappers, and tend to be more expensive.
I also agree that you do not need both quarters and fifty cents, unless you plan to vary your stakes to .25/.50 or .50/$1

I would also recommend providing a relative budget, as this will help us navigate you in the right direction. Cadillac sets are subjective to their owners, for someone upgrading from dice chips or China clays RHC chips may be a Cadillac to them. For others leaded THC, TRK, or BCC is a Cadillac.. all depends on the individual

Sure, I'm basically drooling over the original HSI sales a few years ago. Really like the secondary sets, but the primary looks good too. I'm hoping I can get a good breakdown for under 2K.

I'll revise the racks I think I want:

$1 - 100
$5 - 200
$25 - 100
$100 - 100
$500 - I'll take as many as I can get
$1000 - Twice as many as I can afford
$$$ - oh you have bigger chips

You are probably lookimg at $1100 give or take depending on the seller, so you could probably acquire some $500s as well.
The fracs have been changing hands occasionally but the last sale was like $1k for the rack or something, and the $1k chips are fairly pricey as well

Oh yea. I can already tell I'm going the relabel rout for fracs and snappers.
