Have Chinese cards mold replica sets gone too far? (21 Viewers)

Chips aren't the only thing on this site being replicated, tributes made, or closely copied. Look at the logos used from casinos for the table toppers, cut cards etc. I'm fairly certain that no permission was obtained from the casinos in question for any of that either.
If people have issues with it, then don't buy or partake in the threads. If the casinos have issues, they have a recourse, but I doubt that they care much.
It's not like casinos dont know this site exists.

I think you misunderstand me. I like ceramics. I just don’t like copies.
And everyone here is more than aware of that by now. Since it tilts you so badly, why not unsubscribe from this thread and you won't have to see it. Save yourself from the pain.

Dude, you could scroll on by and not be the PCF popo.

I enjoy his responses, he thinks about things and has thoughtful insights. Sometimes they hit the mark and sometimes they aren’t, but they aren’t thoughtless parrot posts that you get from a lot of posters.

Not cool, bro.

This is hilarious coming from you...

I love most of what @upNdown posts. And he and I have had plenty of friendly banter here. Pretty sure he is more than capable of letting me know if I say something that bothers him. I'm just looking out for his mental health. I hate to see him getting so worked up here in this thread, so I just made a friendly suggestion. :)

The question that is burning me lately is have home games gone to far? Look at all the people who have knocked off poker rooms by buying poker tables and plastic playing cards and creating fake casinos in order to fool Paulson into selling to them. Shameful.

I think it is time we all take a step back and seize with the imagery. We need to go back to playing poker around the kitchen table with bicycle cards and generic run of the mill chips. After all, who do we think we are trying to replicate poker rooms like the ones found in casinos? It is disgusting.

I will start.

Playing poker on a kitchen table is such a horrible experience compared to a proper table. (or simply a mat) decent playing surface is much more important to me than the chips honestly. Also so cheap comparatively speaking, so everyone with decent chips here on PCF should also prioritise getting a mat, topper or poker table!

Hey hey hey slow down. You seemed to be having an off day when you made that comment worrying about your friend, I was just doing the same, just making a friendly suggestion to help you out in a crisis time it looked like.

There is a thin line here with creating chips that look identical to other chips. I don´t know why but I feel this is alright with tournament sets but with cash sets from Casinos I think this rubs me the wrong way. Mimicking some edgespots is one thing but to make a set that is just a replica is not okey in my opinion

Why the hate?
It’s not lost on me that you, the godfather of PCF cardsmolds, is one of the few people who has made original chips. And they’re great. But it seems like the vast majority of people took that ball and instead of running with it, drooled “duh we can copy everything!”

Duh, some people don’t want customs. They admire the beautiful retired chips from casinos past and present and would like a playable set as close as possible to unobtainable chips.

Sigh. Copycats, all of you! It is disgusting on how you all want to be alike.

Bring back dice chips! Make home games great again!

If I were a more rational person, I'd have just bought a couple of cards mold tribute sets and been done with it. Best value in home poker chips, hands down. Unfortunately, I'm a chipaholic and these chips no longer cross my tolerance threshold :/

Re the knockoff aspects of the sets, honestly, I got into chipping precisely to replicate the casino experience in my home game as much as possible. As long as these chips aren't being used to fool folks that they're buying collectible chips, anything's ok by me.

Playing poker on a kitchen table > Not playing poker at all. :(
