Tourney fun (but +EV for me) tournament modifications (1 Viewer)

I'm coming up on my last day at work soon. We've been playing a fair amount of poker here, weekly cash games and quarterly tournaments. I'm considering running a tournament as a going-away party and was thinking it would be fun to put a bounty just on myself. But then I'd want something (like cheap, unlimited rebuys for myself) to balance out the EV . . . or even better increase my EV

Any suggestions?

Put a large bounty on yourself, but you start with a larger chip stack. That sounds like a whole lot of fun.

Or maybe you’re allowed 1 or 2 free rebuys as to make it a little less crazy with the amount of chips on the table. Include a bounty for every rebuy to try to spread the love to multiple players.

I like the idea of doing something, but dont like the idea of "special treatment" for a player in a tournament. I like a level playing field, same rebuys for everyone etc.

But the special bounty on you sounds like a good idea.

Wouldn’t putting the bounty only on himself, by definition, make for an unlevel playing field, at least for @navels?

I’d imagine everyone would be gunning for the only bounty in the tournament. All vs. one.

That’s why I suggested a large starting stack for him. Make the only bounty a little tougher to get. Maybe my idea isn’t that great lol. It came to me without much thought.

But.. No i don't like him getting more chips than the rest either. Poker is a game, i like games. i only like games when we are all playing by the same rules.

A bounty on him might be considered bending the playing field a little. (is that even the right analogy?) but it doesn't change the rule structure of the game itself.

I can get down with that line of thought.

Could be cool to have a rotating bounty each week. This week the bounty is on Navels. Next week is MatB, week after is RichMahogany. Spread the love around so to speak.

Actually, in regards to the OPs idea of a more 'Party" atmosphere,

He could buy a bottle of Scotch for the high hand, have a "win with 72" prize. Couple of ideas...

My thinking is that if there is a bounty just on me, I will bust out of the tournament frequently, and also will be unable to re-enter after the rebuys are over, at which point I'll be twiddling my thumbs at my own farewell party. I might suggest: same starting stack but 1/2-price unlimited rebuys, or something like that.

And I like the alcohol-incentivized promos!

Normal stacks and rebuys, extra bounty on you, but anyone who wins a pot against you must take a shot/chug/etc. Might make them think twice about getting into too many pots with you.

Or maybe it’ll make them want to play more pots against you? Who knows.
