Its amazing how much time/ materials go into even the fugliest of tables.

I definitely fall into the "each to his own" camp. But seriously... some of these table hurt the eyes.

I would love to be there when the builder of the table unveils it to the group... TA DAAAA!!! Oh my word.:eek:

There are lots of things one can make, where using the outline of Michigan is a good idea -- cookies, cakes, candies, a map, a golf course hole, a left-hand mitten storage box, etc. A poker table is not one of those things.
 
Does anyone remember the Texas shaped table from back on the blue wall? These things may just be the start of something awesome (assuming you live in a new state shaped like an oval).

Pro tip: You can double the usefulness of a left-handed mitten storage box if you're willing to store your right-handed mittens upside-down. Of course my OCD (and I presume yours) would never allow such a thing, hence I have two mitten storage boxes to accommodate all my mitten storage needs.

I'm ignorant when it comes to table building, so I'll defer to the experts. However, this looks like a high quality table to me in terms of materials, much different than the other dogshit monstrosities we see in this thread.

On a side note, it looks like a life raft that was attacked by a shark.

The design is probably the biggest thing for me. It's always hard to upholster corners well, the inlayed chips are kinda tacky and the racetrack to cloth step is annoying. As far as materials, the wood is stained pine, which isn't super nice. You could do much better for that kind of price.

Yeah pretty much this.

Apart from being a design abortion, I can't imagine playing for more than an orbit on the puffy playing surface watching cards tumble into the oblivion between the surface and the rail and watch players mangle the cards while they try to pick them up literally every single time a hand is dealt.
