Welp, yeah four days in the group. The amount of knowledge floating around here is nearly overwhelming! But great stuff. I have gleaned plenty of info....

But no one mentioned that I would be needing a second, or perhaps, third mortgage!

Absolutely, I'm pretty new here also and it's wild....groups buys for chips, cards, dealer buttons, cut cards, etc.... It's a never ending site to drain every penny you've saved, ha ha! My favorite is the wealth of knowledge given by some on home cash games, tourneys, structures just how to make them run smooth but keep the fun going so your players return weekly or monthly etc....

Just remember that the forum isn't going anywhere. And the justin buys run about every month. And there will almost certainly be more cool sets you really want for sale soon. You don't have to jump in with both feet and your whole savings account.

It can be very easy to spend way too much up front, then look down and realize you have way more chips then you'll ever actually felt, and a lot of them are super cool but you don't really have a use for them, and then you're reselling them here at cost and begin questioning your life choices. Or... so I hear. Wouldn't know myself. Obviously....

Not a matter of a third mortgage. Sell your house, live in a tent and get a secure storage unit for your finds.

I get the urge to buy buy buy too when I find new hobbies. Especially with the hype from a thriving forum like this one. I think there is sage advice in this thread that there is no need for FOMO. Take your time and make sure you spend on what you really want (after you figure out what that is!) Just my two cents!

Yeah, I was able to sell everything I decided to let go at or near the same price I bought it for. Some of it I maybe could have even sold for more if I really wanted to. But I was happy to just get my money back out of it. Still have more chips than I need, but I can at least justify them better now.
