Introduction
My name is Angelo, I am 36 years old married, a son and another baby on the way.

I live in the beautiful city of cologne, germany.

When I joined PCF in september last year I was just another long time poker player looking to spruce up his homegame with some "nice" chips during the covid break.
Budget: $300

Well as most of you know this could only last a few weeks on this site.

The backstory
As soon as I knew what the differences between dice chips, china clays and paulson were, I rummaged through my sample sets from apache-poker and found two paulson chips that were pretty underwhelming in color, but awesome regarding feel and sound.

And then it hit me. Don't I have this one souvenir chip I brought with me from that trip to Vegas a few years ago?
Somewhere in my closet I found it and was blown away by its simplicity yet still so much grace and beauty.

I had it in my possession for years but never gave it a second glance. Silly me!

A quick search on PCF brought me to the flamingo set that @WhiteMamba1646 built. It was immediately my favorite set, even after a trip through the @Windwalker pr0n thread. (Ok ok, the starlite and lakeshore sets are alright too, I guess)

So a decision was made, the budget thrown overboard, never to be seen again.

With the help of awesome chippers like @LeGold, @Josh Kifer, @jpietrella, @arch3r, @WhiteMamba1646 and many others who sold (or straight up gifted) me chips or helped me out with a tip or other generous gesture, I accumulated THC solids to have my own flamingo set somewhere in the future.

Status of the set
This is what I managed to scrape together sitting on my shelf in germany right now:

In addition to that I have @SpaceMonkey420 s worker bees combing Vegas for another excellent rack of flamingos to be all set on workhorse chips for the 25ct/25ct game (with room to grow) I plan on hosting as soon as the lockdown in europe is lifted.

Also, I just managed to aquire a huge set of THC solids that @Darthhoodie was kind enough to let go. I wish you all the best for you and your family, sir.

The chips are in transit to my reshipper Mr @arch3r who was kind enough to offer this service to me free of charge.

These chips finally complete my set and now I have the luxury to decide what colors to use and what I repurpose for other projects, like my solids stt set.

Please no dibs or offers to buy in this thread. This is not a sales thread. This is purely to document the journey and gather opinions of the community.

I'm already in contact with @Gear and hope to finalize the lables in the next few days. Here is a preview:

Definitive denominations are:
25ct / $1 / $5 / $20
Not sure about including a 5ct and/or a $100 since both are unlikely to see much play in the stakes that I plan to use this set in. It would however free up space for MOAR chips and colors.

These are the options that I feel would look great in this set. Each barrel representing a rack of the respektive color:

#1

Bare bones cali edition. 25ct fuchsia, $1 flamingo, $5 yellow, $20 charcoal

#2

High roller edition. 25ct fuchsia, $1 flamingo, $5 yellow, $20 day green, $100 charcoal

#3
IMG_20210214_220143.jpg

Alternate high roller edition.
25ct day green, $1 flamingo, $5 yellow, $20 fuchsia, $100 charcoal

#4
The obviously superior option that I did not think about and that you tell me in an all caps answer.

Thanks for reading and you all have a pleasant day.

Hi,
Did you buy all colors from @Darthhoodie?
"His" fuchia's seem to be in better shape than your barrel shown in the stack pictures. If so, I'd go this route:
.25/1/5/25 --> yellow/"light blue"/fuchsia/green/ and you may add a rack of white's as 0.5's

You could add some higher denoms for a single table tournament set
5/25/100/500 --> fuchsia/green/black or carochal/dark blue

What I also like is using the spot colors from the "spottes $1 chip". red, white and yellow, if I am correct.
.05 white/ .25 yellow/ 1 light blue / 5 red /25 green / 100 black / 500 fuchsia

Yes, the fuchsias shown in the barrel pictures are well worn and just there to represent the color. I'd definitely use the rack I aquired from @Darthhoodie
Not looking to add a denom between the 25c and $1 since I deem it not neccessary. Only other frac I'd consider is a 5ct for the occasional nanostakes round, but I have that one covered with my IOC set. Looking to reward my "high roller" players by putting another set in play for the higher stakes.
That is why I'd like to have 2 racks of $5 to be able to offer a $1/$1 game, even though my homegame is not even close to this atm.

Stt solids set is already taken care of. Pictures to come as soon as I am happy with my lable design. ;)

Also a nice color palette.

Well thank you sir! That set looks aweome! I do have one rack pre ordered in front of you (I made a honest trade mistake and forgot a rack) but VERY SOON I’ll have a new flamingo rack for you. Usually we get a few each run. I actually hope to get more this weekend. Flamingo poker has been open with only one table and we’re being careful not to cause attention or get the boot. Sorry for the delay, and thanks or the tag, business, and love! I must admit your a killer new chipper and after dealing with a mouthy newb recently I’d say your awesome and very welcome. Im super glad to help and I appreciate you TYVM!!!

#4 CA HIGH ROLLER:
FUCHSIA, BLUE, YELLOWCHARCOAL ($20), WHITE ($100)

AMAZING WORK, IT... I mean... it will look amazing regardless.

Alternatively, it looks like there’s wide variation in German casino colors and good use of chips and jetons. If you drop the currency, you could do any color combo you want, even blue/yellow/white/fuchsia/green or blue/black/green/fuchsia/yellow...

Have fun with this, I can’t wait to... I mean...

I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE THE FINAL RESULTS!

That's exactly how I wanted a potential #4 to be posted, thank you!
You're right, there is no rhyme or reason to german denom colors, so no potential chance to confuse my fellow german players with a color that you guys would consider weird on that particular denom.

But I have spend quite some time on this site, so I wouldn't want to stray too far from the norm. Some artistic license should be a given on ones own custom set though.
Right now I'm back in the #2 camp because in a 25c/25c game I'd mostly see the fracs and the ones as workhorse chips on the table together. And the fuchsias look better together with the $1 than the day greens. At least in my opinion.
IMG_20210214_220503.jpg

But I've changed camps back and forth about 5 times this week so it's gonna be exciting when the lables arrive and I'm gonna have to make a permanent choice. ;)

Ok.. I think the black kinda slams on the brakes in your set. The others pop and shine. I’d go with green as the 20 and the white as the 100. So the only thing that’s off is the 20.

Alternate high roller edition.
25ct day green, $1 flamingo, $5 yellow, $20 fuchsia, $100 charcoal
#3 is my favorite. I love a day green/green frac, and the fuscia with yellow is a more pastel palate than the charcoal.

A lot of people ask about a Green $20/25 in a cali lineup and although it does exist, they look off to me.

@OfficerLovejoy
I like em all.

By the way, I like the "Cologne, DE" much better than just Cologne or having it in German. This clearly inspired by the flamingo in Vegas & with the US $ sign in there it is all held together better this way.

I didn't see it mentioned, but a couple things a) are you re-labeling the $1's too or are they staying as is? & b) textured labels from gear?

Actually I was a few hours late with the addition of the" , DE", so the lables were already printed without it. It's fine, I think it gives it a more clean and less cluttered look. Also in Germany we don't put our equivalent of a state behind city names. It's nothing that is gonna bother me in any way. :)

The $1s stay as they are as an homage to the original and to safe on a lot of work that is not really necessary, I feel.

And yes gear textured laminate lables. :)
