My wife is out of town on an impromptu ladies' trip for the weekend. I couldn't get any interest in a home game on short notice, so I'm heading up to Riverside Casino (about an hour away) to give it a shot. I've played a number of low buy-in tourneys, but never live cash in a casino.

They should have 1/3 PLO8 running. I'm planning on buying in reasonably short, and nitting it up, looking for good spot to get hyper aggressive with a chance for scoops or 3/4.

Wish me luck!

Don’t expect anyone to play like they’ve read a book.
Statistics and probabilities are only calculated for buffet openings, not cards.
Omaha is going to be brutal, you will get bet off of the third nuts just to find out they overvalued their pair of queens with ace kicker.

I think you will find you are giving the players too much credit to begin with but just wait and see. You should be able to tell what type of game it is after a round. Oh, and good luck being patient...you are going to see maybe 20-25 hands an hour compared to the 120 or so you see online when 2-3 tabling. :-)

I'm interested to see how this game is, good luck and have fun man.

That sounds like it could be very profitable!

I've never played PLO8 at a casino but PLO can get pretty wild.

Should be a good time. There will likely be a ton of bad players chasing just half the pot who often get quartered.

Definitely let us know how it goes. Or if you can, live reporting would be awesome.

Good luck buddy! Post the outcome and interesting hands here!

Nitting it up at a 1/3 plo8 game sounds miserable.....staying home and watching tv sounds better... however, if ur gonna go don’t be like all the other bed bugs, especially for ur first time, make an entrance.....

1. Before u sit, buy a beer (corona bottle is best cause it’s clear). Pour most of it out (or drink most). Bring it to the table. Covid may screw this up for u.
2. Standing at the table pull ur chips out of ur pocket and pile them on the table (don’t stack them).
3. On ur first hand, look at ur cards and no matter what declare that u r all in.
Regardless of whether they make u put money in the pot, u will have set up ur image the right way. The bed bugs at the table will call u light all night long......then have fun with the image u created........ if u lose so what, u will no doubt have some good stories to tell ur friends.

Two full 1/2 NLHE tables running. Waiting for 1 more to start PLO8, so I’m grabbing a sandwich.

(sorry for the disappointing update)

4. Say “hit me” every time the action is on you

5. Constantly ask if it’s hi/lo, and if they get mad just ask “whose action is it” three times

6. When they split the pot, tell them how to do it. Especially quartered pots. Make sure they know which is “the main” and which ones are side pots. After the chips are awarded just say “I don’t think you did that right” for three or four hands after.

Still waiting on PLO, but got in on some limp heavy NLHE while I wait.

RT Plastics in play.

They're still mixing in the miserable ceramic commemoratives? Yikes.
