Hosting my first Cash Game tomorrow night, super stoked about getting the guys together.

I have confirmed 10 players and told them the buy in would be $25 and blind structure would be 25/50¢. Because these are all hobby players, not pros Im keeping the max buy in to $100 so its not bigger than a Nice bar tab.

To maximize big blinds and chip break downs…

Would it make more sense to go to 25/25¢ and what would you guys recommend for the chip break down?

Thanks in advance!

I run a .25/.5

8 to 12 .25s is what you want to hand out

I would agree with Paradox

Excellent!

I assume you mean maximum of $100 for the entire night (one initial $25 buy-in and 3 rebuys at $25 each). How many chips of each denom do you currently have? That could set you stakes.

Assuming you have plenty of chips, 25c/50c would only be 50 big blinds. Their $25 will go further if you do 10/25c or 25/25c (100 big blinds) with less all-ins. Consider starting at 05/10c the first hour and bump it up higher every hour so on the third hour you are at 25/50c. Feel them out to determine their comfort level and how high their gambling fever is.

Let us know how it goes.
Best of luck!

Exactly what I mean….$100 max for the entire night. I will not limit the re-buys to $25 bucks…at least I dont plan to limit how much they can win back…..but I dont want my first time playing with novice players to feel like they got taken advantage of and they ended up losing hundreds and dont come back. Im looking for the shooting the shit with the guys and camaraderie and setting up regular games vs biggerstakes. I feel like overtime as players get better….so can the stakes.

I have a 1K Chip set with plenty of every denomination, so that is not an issue for me being limited to my break downs. I bought plenty for my game to grow.

I like the more big blings idea and thats why I was considering doing 25/25.

I really dont want to bring in 5¢ even though I can…because the idea of being raised 5¢ or 10¢ is just painful….

Thanks everyone.

And no….no hot dog cooker/roller thing. Lol

Up to you, but very rarely will people raise that min amount, itll be for limping and blinds. The difference is, the $25 buyin is a fortune for 5c/10c and new people can limp and splash for a long while on that 1 buyin (most times), while at 25c/50c you have a lot less play. 250bb vs 50bb.

I thought the same as you but 5c/10c has been perfect. Most raises start at 35 or 50 anyways but its very beginner friendly.

Good point on being beginners friendly on the 5¢/10¢.

But first person to raise 5¢ gets smacked. ;)

25/25c will be my choice if you doing a $25 buyin

I will do a standard buyin of $25 for everyone first buyin and rebuy at up to $50 or half the biggest stack

Starting stack for the first 5 person will be

20 x 25c
20 x $1

And the next player onward

20 x $1
1 x $5

When you used up your $1, just give the rebuy in $5 & $25, the table can exchange the smaller denominations among themselves

Use the first session as a template and ask for feedback from the players too.

Do noted that having both the SB & BB at the same value, the opening raise will be much higher than usual.

For example a 10/20c, the typical preflop raise (PFR) will be 60 to 70c, whereas 25/25c PFR will be $1 to $1.25 instead.

It is awesome that you guys have this knowledge and experience. Thanks for sharing it.

Glad you're thinking about a $100 cap for the night and building a regular sustainable game.

For no limit I do .25/.25 with a $25 initial buy in. Novice players tend to limp more (and I like lots of chips in play), so I usually hand out a barrel of quarters for each player. 16/player is probably more optimal if there's lots of limping.

Thanks! I was leaning more towards more chips to make them feel like they had more chip value

I agree with the $.25/$.25 blinds. 100 BB is reasonable for a game.
