I have had CC Pharoahs for about 12+ years some are falling apart. Rather than top up with another 100-200 or so (shipping is stupid to Australia from Apache) I am thinking jumping up to the big leagues.

I am looking for a 400-500 chip cash set for 25c/50c games with this as bare minimum

100 x 25c
200 x $1
180 x $5
20 x $25

I’ve always loved Paulson’s but also a CPC rounders have also been a grail.

CPC rounders seems simipler to buy. I just email CPC. Paulsons I have to find the right breakdown then hope seller is open send to Asutalia, which seems rare on here.

I think this is the last set I will buy for the next 10 years so it will be one or the other.

Thanks in advance !

Have you sampled them, or is it possible to handle some before buying? I know shipping is pretty steep down there if not buying locally.

CPC rounders have also been a grail.
Sounds like to me we already have a winner between the two

100 x 25c
200 x $1
180 x $5
20 x $25
As shipping is always a concern to overseas buyers. I would suggest you to buy a full 600 chip set instead, it going to cost almost the same for shipping wise.

It is also easier to sell with a better breakdown down the route if you changed your mind.

100 x 25c
200 x $1
200 x $5
80 x $25
20 x $100

I had 2 sets of Paulsons when I bought my CPC Rounders set (CSQ mold). I was so pleasantly surprised how much I liked the feel of them. I love the brass flakes in the chips, it gives the edges almost a gritty grip that is great.
You really can’t go wrong with either, but getting new, sharp CPCs in the denominations you want and in a timely manner certainly is a major plus.

Yeah this is like exactly what I'm looking for also

CPC Rounders will be new and probably less expensive, but may need to wait for production unless there's a fair amount of existing backstock.

Paulsons feel a bit softer. Since PCFers tend to build and sell in playable sets, you might find something usable out of the gate, but could be from slightly to enormously more expensive.

Shipping is what it is, and shouldn't be the sole deciding factor for what to acquire if it5going to be your lifelong set.

This. Exactly. All. Of. It.

CSQ is a great mold and Rounders is a cool set. You can get whatever breakdown you want and the option to semi-customize is there. I would easily go with those over some meh Paulson set (which is what you’ll likely be able to get at the same price point).

You sound like me. I’ve wanted those Rounders since 2017, but because I’m a big p***y I never bought them. Now I naturally regret it because of how expensive they are. Only difference is I live in US.

Follow your heart, and you’ll never go wrong.

Can’t hurt to put up a wanted ad with your exact budget and see what you get in reply…there’s a lot of people willing to sell that don’t post for sale threads.

CPC’s are great. Different than Paulson’s, but equally great. Like comparing a Ferrari and a Lamborghini - opinions abound, but they are both objectively still great and better than a Honda - lol.

Not to throw a wrench, if Rounders are “it’ for you, then stick with it. However the Key West chips from Dennis are very, very good! (Also CPC’s on the H-Mold which is killer)

Can’t go wrong either way and the CPC’s will certainly last for a very long time - (lifetime)

I've had ASM (what are now custom CPC chips) for 15 years and love them every time I play with them. however for very similar money you could get your own custom CPC chips. if you're ready to make the jump I think you were really enjoy the process of designing your own labels and getting just the color combinations of edge spots.

Yeah, I want something just like this.

I might just have to buy the Tina's though

If you really want to pursue a Paulson set but are thinking of settling for Tina ceramics, then you should at least make sure you know the apples and oranges of the difference and at least track down some samples. Even compare them with other clay and ceramic manufacturers as well.

Thanks all, I think I am sold on CPC Rounders.

I had one more question - since I it’s for a 25c/50c game and my workhorses are $1 and $5 I was going to get buy the following since they get the most screen time in the movie.

100 x Rounders $25 (Green) as $0.25 quarters
200x Rounders $100 (Black) as $1.00
200x Rounders $500 (Purple) as $5.00

But I think I need a rack of something to use as $25 to increase the bank.

However they only have $1000 (could use as $10.00) and $5000 ($50.00). Which would be best or should I just ask for get a rack of semi-custom non-denim from them?

Thanks!

FYI would love the breakdown below but a bit lost on the 80x$25/20x$100 rack given my predicament above to try recreate KGBs den

Just do we are clear. You do not like the blue .25's and the white $1.00's etc??? Or is your goal to have a more representative chip set as the movie?

Use standard breakdown:

25¢ - 100
$1 - 200
$5 - 200
$25 - 80
$100 - 20

I think this is kind of a fun idea. Similar to a tournament where people are holding thousands of dollars but it's really a 100 bucks

Yes this exactly I don’t really want the blue quarters or white 1s as they are never shown in the movie.

I think only the the green 25 black 100 and purple 500 was in the movie. So since my cash game is 25c/50c where $1 and $5 are workhorse - I was going to use those as quarters/$1/$5 by effectively dividing the cpc labelled denom by 100. So $25 equals 25c.

The rounders smalls denoms are ok , just personally I think they kind of lose the specialness if you aren’t able to use the “movie colored” chips. Not bagging the smaller denoms, just the connection with the rounders scenes makes those 3 colors so cool.

Hm okay that’s not a bad thought. I have nothing further to add other than you’re gonna be so happy to have these chips.

You should contact CPC and see what they say about the request. There will certainly be a wait if it's doable though.

CPC customize chips, just submit an order.

You can have Green chip with 25c denomination, black with $1 etc

The cost vs buying the stock is the same for chips with the same edgespot, only differences is the waiting times.

Another thing to consider is that Paulsons often retain or increase their value over time. Provided you get a halfway decent deal, if you change your mind in a year or two and decide to upgrade/downgrade, you'll likely make your money back, possibly more. You're essentially renting them.

CPC's generally dont have the same resale value as when purchased. Even the stock chips cant command current prices, because theyre still sold new. Ans the more customized the set (except for some amazing sets), the harder it is to sell them near cost.

I own
Anita's Cards Mold Ceramics
CPC Horse Heads
Paulson mostly used HSIs
And Majestic star leaded 36mm
And Cincinnati 36mm
And THC leaded hot gaming school stamps

And honestly I'd happily play with all of them and am trying to rotate. 4x cash sets (39mm mostly) and 3x tourney sets (all 36mm).The HSI are the most popular. I love the old school THC set, but most players seem to like the flashier obvious real casino chips.
I have only payed my CPCs once so far. some players thought they were sharp, others claimed to like them, others said they preferred the more multi colour chips from the previous week lol. What really matters is that you like them, and yes CPC's are very nice chips. With the horse head mold I was taken back at the fine detail one the mold...each horse head has a bridle and the pressings are perfect.

If you are most interested in rounder chips perhaps consider making your own design. The Rounders chips are level 1 edge spots which are very comparably priced to the rounders chips themselves, plus you would have your own custom chips. Like others have said shipping is the same regardless (expensive).

Donkey KGB is likely the best micro-stakes tribute set using the original Rounders colors.

You could contact CPC and ask if they can use the bear logo with these cent denoms to make your movie colored chips.

Just an opinion from a nobody*, but I would rather get the Rounders chips over a “random” Paulson chip from a no name casino, especially if I lived in Australia.

*who is going for a cards mold set which is a fraction of the cost, so take my opinion with some salt.

I would rather get a random ex-casino USA set if I lived in Australia for security reasons, because anybody can buy stock CPC Rounders. Tourney set = a wash, but CPC likely to be more budget-friendly.
