Thank you to the good folk @BR Pro Poker
More to come :cool

The "Havana" film would have been ideal for nice chips.
Pitty they used what seem to be dice chips.

The thing that frustrates me about a movie - themed chip set (and all custom ideas, really) is that for the typical cash set, you're really only using 3 chips. Does putting the best, or most important character on a frac make sense, because you're using it every hand, or does that cheapen it? If you save the most important for the highest denom, it never sees the table.
I guess it's less of a problem with tournament chips, because as the blinds increase, you cycle through chips.

Thats an easy answer. If you are playing at stakes where you only have 1 frac in your set, then it’s probable that the workhorse chip is the $5. Those should see the most use and table time so that will be “centerpiece” of your set.

Also, there’s no way”only using 3 chips” would ever work for our games. The amount of $5s needed would be impractical at best

Sigh. Yes, for a typical .25/.50 set, you have quarters, ones, fives, twenty/twenty-fives, and hundreds. How many of those chips get into a typical hand?
Could it be THREE?

It could, could also be two or four. Depends on the game, stakes, and the players

Edit: regardless, the $5 is likely the workhorse and should therefore be the centerpiece IMO

Right, I agree. But unless you have a one man show, you’ve got some tough decisions.
Suppose you’re doing The Sporanos.
I guess you put Tony on the $5. Though there’s a good argument for putting him on the hundred. So where do you put:
Silvio
Carmella
Paulie
Christopher
Not to mention: Big Pussy, Dr. Melfi, meadow and Anthony, Tony’s mother, uncle junior, Bobby etc
I guess I’m whining because there’s no perfect way to do these things.

Do a group shot on all chips. Only the colors/denominations change.

A recent one: Ford v Ferrari

I’m thinking an STP livery for the one, Ferrari Red 5s, black and white checkered flag hundos.... it needs work but I’m loving the 1s in my head.

I would love a Twin Peaks set, there are so many different ways you could go about it. Perhaps have a bunch of different quotes on different chips? The quotes could be "pokerized", for e.g. "The all-in is not what it seems".

Or make it subtle with just the mountains and "Twin Peaks Casino".
Or perhaps "One Eyed Jack's Brothel and Cardroom"?

Could someone with talent mock up something? :)

Easy:
  • House of Cards (not a movie) but the theme would be great and easy
  • Gangster Squad
  • Public Enemies
  • Suicide Squad
  • Robin Hood (maybe)
  • Batman (for sure)
  • Joker

For me if I were ever to do custom chips based on a movie here are the movies I would try to do below. Some of these are my favorite movies. Excalibur is a like a Medieval King Arthur themed movie that I think would be great on a chip. I hope to do a Movie themed chip one of these days.
  • Top Gun
  • Princess Bride
  • Ghostbusters (The Original Cast)
  • Platoon
  • Scarface
  • Bloodsport
  • BOYZ N THE HOOD
  • EXCALIBUR

Bloodsport
T25 - Parades (The guy who gets his leg broken by Chong Li, and the same actor that played Tong Po in Kickboxer)
T100 - Paco (Such a cool style!)
T500 - Jackson (OK USA!)
T1000 - Frank Ducks (No no no, is "Dux")
T5000 - Chong Li (The true hero of Bloodsport. Got robbed in the finals due to plot armor)
T25000 plaque - Sensei Tanaka

Not a movie, but has anyone watched the latest season of Ozark? The main characters have opened up a casino called the Missouri Belle Casino. The casino is a boat stationed upon the Missouri, very similar to the PCA! There is a poker scene in the first episode of season 3. Been fantasizing about someone talented here coming up with a custom chip design to match this show/casino.
