Hey all,

I came across this set and wanted to see if anyone knew anything about it. I have tried searching a little online and haven’t turned up anything of value yet.

To be honest, I’m not sure if I’ve posted thee already or not.

I have seen some similar sets that are from Dal Negro, but I know nothing more than that. Where do I find out the manufacturer and/or value?

Can anyone help?

I think this is an old Dal Negro set but certainly not sure on that.
If they are quality is nice, no toys or cheap plastIc.

box looks nice too

No way are those mother-of-pearl. They're acrylic (a type of plastic). Nicely made and attractive, though; the pattern they've used here to emulate mother-of-pearl is quite nice, it has a pleasant wavy marble-like effect.

Sets similar to this but not necessarily identical to this show up on a regular basis, like the Dal Negro sets you've seen. There seems to have been a wide variety of different manufacturers over the years, and very often the manufacturer isn't noted in the listings and may not even be marked on the sets. Given how different each set is - different colors, shapes, textures, materials, denominations, fonts, and designs - it's probably a hopeless task to track down the provenance of any given set if it doesn't come with some sort of record or description from the seller. Even identifying the age could be a lost cause, although of course I'm not an expert; maybe a specialist would have better resources and enough knowledge to pin things down.

Best way to determine value is to spend a few months watching eBay for similar sets and see how much they end up selling for. It could be quite a range, though, since each set can be so different - even something like the appearance and condition of the case could dramatically affect how much it goes for. Your set looks very nice, with a very nice case, so maybe it would go for the higher values. Also be aware of the difference between plastic sets and mother-of-pearl; the MoP sets are older, rarer, and more desirable and so I would expect them to go for a good bit more.
