So I really like the Dunes China Clays from Apache. But I'm interested in swapping the denoms on a couple of the chips. I emailed Apache to ask, but they said they cannot do any customization of that sort.

At the moment, I think I'd keep stock $5 chips, but want $25 labels on the bright green $20 chips, $100 labels on the white $500 chips, and $500 labels on the bright yellow $1000 chips.

For someone who is not very DIY savvy and has never done any custom chipping before, what is my best option?

1) Ordering custom Dunes labels? (Not sure who can do this and get very close to the stock labels in look and feel.)
2) Ordering all the Dunes chips and just swapping the labels.

#2 seems quite financially inefficient, but would ensure label consistency. But I'm not sure how well those labels come off and re-apply. #1 seems to make most sense, but I don't know who can make labels like that.

In the case of #2, what's the best way to remove labels without damaging them? Exacto knife? What about re-applying them? Is there a recommended adhesive?

Thanks all!

So I put the project on pause last Spring, but reconnected with @Gear in November or December, and I'm on the waitlist (was told it'd be a couple months or so). So I am moving forward with the project and I can update as I make progress.

I am doing:
5 cent Red Dunes (stock $5 chips)
25 cent Light Green Dunes (stock $20 chips)
$1 White Dunes (stock $500 chips)
$5 Yellow Dunes (stock $1000 chips)

These are my favorites of the Dunes. I ordered the chips weeks ago and have them in hand, and they are still some of the best China Clays out there to me.

Lol I'm doing the same thing with the 500s making them my ones. Please keep updates coming once you get your labels. I just put an email into @Gear so hopefully I can get on the list too.

Ok...... Any update????? Inquiring minds want to know
Yes! Sorry for the delay.

I received the labels a week or two ago. I have not had a chance to put them on yet, nor take off the old ones. It may take some time as things are busy now.

I plan to take before and after pics. The labels themselves look really good though.

One thing I'm undecided on as of yet - will I align the label on both sides of each chip in the same orientation? Casino chips' labels are not in the same orientation on either side, so a random orientation would be true to a casino chip. But having the option to align them is interesting, as it might be aesthetically pleasing.

Interested in follow up pics as well as dunes are also my favorite China clay. I love the colors in a t5 base tournament and the white is my favorite chip. I hate purple 500s. Love white or pink especially when it’s the highest chip I’m using. Red green white yellow microstakes set should look awesome.

I finished several projects that needed to get done, so I just began working on the relabels.

It's a slow process. 25 down, 475 to go. Not sure how long it'll take before I finish, as I don't have lots of free time, but I'll post again when I'm finished.

The labels look and feel good, and I think they work really well on the chips. You'll notice slight differences from the original labels. You can work with Chris on precise colorations and details. I decided to go with the slightly brighter colors, aiming a bit closer to the original casino Dunes. I'm happy with them.

Looks good. Did you opt for the lighter colors or was that something done because of copywriting?

I opted for them. He will work with you on color adjustments to your liking, including background colors. Note however that he cannot duplicate the reflective silver background of the Apache Dunes. He can approximate that color but not the reflectiveness.

I have been on the list with @Gear for months and just got a sample of what's to come for my dunes cc label swap....oh it was worth the wait! They look amazing. Imo

I am looking forward to having the labels but not putting them on lol. 1025 chip set 2050 labels obviously trying to get them perfect lol

Tried to get close

The $1s are awesome! nice set, good luck with the project

Still loving those $1s! I’m a fan of white or light blue for $1s but those are awesome and fit perfectly in the set. Much better than the standard dark blue $1 dunes chip. 10/10 set enjoy

Nice work and outcome!

Question, did the original labels come off easily/undamaged? Could they be re-used? Basically, wondering if swapping labels between chips is a possible option. Thank you!

Most of them came off ok. I actually turned the stock 1s (blue) into the 500s just cause I didn't want to waste the old stickers over a year and still sticking good.

This is very easy with these. The old ones come off easy with care and you can stick them on wax paper while switching.
