Dumbest Poker-Related Thing You Ever Bought (1 Viewer)

Ugh, guilty of Play Poker Like the Pros as well. Also buying a 1,000 slugged chip set that came in the aluminum case. One of the worst combination of awkward and heavy things to carry ever. Birdcages all the way now.

This one was not really dumb but was very expensive. it cost me thou$and$ before I really learned how to use it properly. My return on investment is yet to be realized......

Bought one of these second hand (Atomic Table II) for $10. Kinda silly on first impression but It works great for photographing chips as well.

That is the dumbest thing I've ever seen.
But I'd definitely pay $10 for it.

These:

I bought them off of fee-bay thinking they were cool way back in 2006 - 1000 chips for $75 I think? The shipping was horrible. Even worse - I ended up adding onto the set with more...

Then someone told me about CT and I started realizing what real chips actually looked like. So I sold them on craigslist for .10 on the dollar and considered that a huge win.

There were a few PGI "rare opportunities" that I'm not particularly proud of... :whistling:
chip parts in a box? lol #irememberthatone

I never bought any of these, but I did make my own out of extra build stuff, including with rail options. Used it for awhile as a table sales sample.

Besides the infamous "Premium Supporter" five or six years running (spending more than a Lifetime Supporter in the process, and intentionally so), I did pick up a bag of 'chips' once that turned out to be one-sided buttons. Felt pretty stupid about that one.

That would make a great wall mounted mini table. Put a triangular support under it and there you go.

I played in a game with these ONCE, only lighting in the basement was a single bulb hanging from an extension cord over the table. In ideal conditions these chips are hard to tell apart, in bad lighting, impossible!!

Did somebody actually design these chips? Or did they pour a bunch of different color plastics into the chip-making machine and took whatever came out?

Many years ago I bought one of those 1950s-60s hand-cranked battleship green metal card shufflers at a yard sale. It only cost me maybe $3-$4, but it was really useless. Still, it followed me around through multiple house sales and moves, until I finally junked it.

What, you mean one of these?

My brother-in-law gave it to me as a gift several years ago. It's totally useless as a shuffler, of course, but it's a fun piece of kitschy poker equipment that I keep on display in the mancave.

18-month bump?

After reading this thread, I feel I got off light. I am a lifetime winner at poker, and my dumbest poker related things are books that sucked.

I have spent some money on custom poker chip designs that will never come to fruition, but that only wasted money if I don't ever get a custom set. In the mean time it's an investment in discovering what I want.
