This is a spinoff of the "Do you need a T500 chip" tournament thread. I've been building a few cash sets jumping straight from $5 to $100s, and thought I'd gather some opinions on the subject.
My thinking is that the $20 chip primarily stores value at the table (with the obvious exception if you are playing $20/$40). As the $20 chip is not commonly used in betting vs. use of the $5 chip, I've not seen a pressing need to fill the $20 chip spot in some of my custom sets. When a player busts out, I've been adding $100s to the table and making change from the other stacks. I've also never seen an issue or heard a player comment about the absence of the $20, either at WCB or SQM (both of which had guest sets generally without a $20 chip).
So what say you? Is there really a need for the $20 chip in a typical home game, or does the $100 serve adequately to store value at the table?
