I currently have a Paulson RHC over labelled mixed cash set. My workhorse chip is the Horseshoe Cincinnati $5. I got a good deal on 5 racks of them a while back here on PCF. I like them but sometimes find the edge spots a bit boring and the colour is pretty dull(which I actually like…kinda)

Anyways I was kicking around the idea of picking up some racks of DJ $5’s as they are fairly inexpensive and most are pretty minty from what I can see.

What do you guys think of these two chips? Is the going rate $2/chip for the DJ’s? I saw a sale here a while back and I thought they were $1/chip.

I've got both, and I agree, the Cincinnati $5 are a bit drab. My DJs are being used in a DJ exclusive set, so I would never consider mixing them. However, if I was building a mixed RHC set from scratch, I don't think I would use the DJ chips in it either. They just don't seem to go very well with other chips.

I think their original price was $1.60, so it's a bit of a markup, but it isn't full secondary.

With all that said, I do kind of like the Cincy $5s in my mix set. They just kind of go with everything, like blue jeans.

I sort of thought the same about the DJ 5’s. They almost need to be in the lineup they were intended. In my set I have HSI 1’s, HSC 5’s, DJ $25’s and DJ 100’s

Keep the DJ $100s, find different $5s and $25s IMO (if going for a full “mixed” set)

Or create a full DJ set by finding DJ $1s and $5s

Is a mixed set usually different chips for each denom?

You can do whatever you want, as long as it makes you happy - I’m actually building a mixed mold set, which will tilt the hell out of 95% of PCF.

But for me, a mixed set with multiple denoms from the same casino seems uninspired. YMMV

I love all those wow. Jealous

What’s your breakdown? Assuming you play multiple games with that spread in denoms?
So this mixed set plays either 25c/50c or 50c/50c or 50c/$1. Breakdown really depends on the crew and their comfort level when it comes to buy-ins. I try not to start with too many chips on the table. It's rare that the $1 and $2 chips would be there at the same time. I would normally pick and choose depending on what the lowest chip is for that night.

In my opinion, a mixed set is any set that is not comprised of chips from the same "casino". They don't all necessarily need to be different from each other, but a true mixed set usually is.

I agree with you. I think if anything I would swap out my $25’s. I’ve never been sure about them. Kinda reminds me of a Christmas tree and not in a good way. I regret not buying some Harbour Lights $25’s that were for sale.

I’m on the hunt for some blue fracs so my set can work for my smaller games. Didn’t think about a $2 chip…..
