Just got back from Vegas on friday (1st time) Needless to say, the thoughts I had last year of buying a cash game set pretty much went into overdrive there. That said, after spending last few days looking around the three listed in the title are probably what I would go with.

Anyone have tried these? I like option to do a custom set with cpc, even with a higher cost, but when i look at the chip itself the stippling or what appears to be a knurled face kinda turns me off. Pretty sure its just the process, so does anyone have insight on feel of that.

Thanks,
Dan

Every CPC mold is different.

Get samples of everything before making a decision.

I think Key West are CPC. The stock version of the same chip. Definitely get samples.

Personally, I would go custom CPC over a stock CPC chip. Not a big price difference.

The GPI ”Elite”chips are nice but I don't like the white edge spots.

At Both of these price points you could also potentially get used Paulson chips.

to me, it looks like the key west have smotth face & cpc have almost a texture to it. Even the sample (pics) so it being textured.

CPC has many different molds. I'll check later today, but I believe some have a smooth inlay area, and some do not. The Key West are on the H-mold from CPC.

Strongly suggest that you get a mold sample.

which sample set would show me the difference? they offer a bunch of different sample sets

From http://www.classicpokerchips.com/store.htm

"Set of 13 plain white mold samples, one of each of all our currently used 39mm molds. Example shown here. Price $18 shipped. (when plain not available, inlaid may be provided instead)

I suggest you start with the Elite / Monaco, which you will be able to sell more easily if you need to, and that way you will have more time to properly think about a custom CPC (colors, edges, denoms, etc)

FDL mold is the only one with a smooth inlay. The rest have a varying degree of texture even within the mold itself... meaning each chip will vary in texture.

Thanks Linky. I did a google of CPC FDL and even though the inlay is smooth, the actual clay still has that texture to it. Maybe cutting marks? IDK. So If all the CPC chips have that textue, and key west is made by CPC and they'll have it too. I guess I just narrowed it down lol. Thanks to everyone.

Are you talking about the crosshatching on the mold surface (chip faces)? If so, that is an intentional design feature of nearly all clay chips, to promote better surface friction (and thus a less-slippery and better handling chip).

Pics of what are are referring to would be helpful.

I think that has to be it then. Im going back and looking at other peoples paulsons, and a few have them. Does that "wear" smooth out over time?

The lines on the face and back. I didnt realize it was a thing ;)

Hopefully not, else the chips become slick.

You need to get your hands on some actual chips.
