Is it common for people to sell sample sets of their custom chips? What's the purpose? Just to collect samples?

Is it common for people to sell sample sets of their custom chips? What's the purpose? Just to collect samples?

It used to be way more common to offer sample sets of customs (at cost). People used to include a sample set thread along with a design thread when designing their customs. That way all you have to do is order the extra amount of chips needed to cover the sample sets and you can collect money up front to pay CPC when you put the main order in.

It allows you to share your babies with others. They can physically hold and see your designs because some/most colors just look way better in person. Plus there are numerous sample set collectors, like myself, who display these sets in display cases on the wall in your poker room. It is the best poker room art. It also is the best way of seeing all the color combos in person if you are looking to design your own set someday.
