Is there any variance across CPC molds regarding thickness or diameter of the chips?

Specifically, no mold, Horsehead, Diasquare, E&C.

Yes. You’ll find some slight variance within molds, too.

I’ve seen some threads on this in various places confirming that there is variance. I believe Dennis at key west or Justin via broken arrow may have some specs because of their rack sizing specific to CPC chips.

Yes, each mold has it's own degree of wear and inconsistencies.

Diameter should be pretty good, but thickness comes down to how the individual cups have worn, etc. HHR is the best, alongside Jockey. I can try to find my notes from David...

I have H-Mold, DSQ, and B-Diamond if you want to inspect them more closely next time you are over for a game. I know it's not the 3 you listed but could maybe help with your research a little.

But what I've found is that even within the same mold there are small variances. I have the 67.7mm racks from Key West and there are some barrels that fit perfect and some very tight. So I would say there is more likely a tendency of them being a little thick rather than thin.

I got a set of Romans right before they were taken out of use. I have variances between stacks of 20's. Clearly some cups were more worn than others.

I have some Key West racks and I sometimes have to shuffle chips around to get the barrels to fit properly. The mandarin reds seem to be the worst.

It's true that there is variance within molds, sometimes significantly.

For example, from the above data, it would appear that Ewing is the best all-around mold - heavy, thiccc, average diameter.

But look at the difference in data between these 2 same chips:
(they are the same color - White)

Yeah, thickness can vary a lot across the worn cups of a mold. HHR, Jockey, and A-mold are the most consistent if you care about stack heights.

My A-mold sets are the closest stack heights across all of the colors. Definitely more stack height variance with DSQ of the different colors, but not enough to be a full chip off in stacks of 20.
