I’m working on finalizing a CPC order (previous post was about design if you want to provide feedback).

Quick question on colors. I ordered a full color sample set from CPC a year is ago. I also ordered various chip samples for feel / idea on styles.

I cannot currently match a red to the rounders sample chip I got (see picture). Is the rounders chip just a custom color? Or is it representative of how much the reds can differ?

One of my main chips will be red, so trying to get comfortable with color selection.

You should be good if your sample set is a year old.

Their DG colors and light blue definitely got more vibrant in the past two years.

So I get that, I'm just still confused on variability. The rounders chip is actually in that list on on page 4, and is listed as "Red PCD 448".

My picture to start this thread shows the rounders chips right next to a red PCD 448 sample from CPC, and they are not the same shade.

Further confusing the issue, across those 6 pages of red, there is great variability between Red chips, Mandarin Red Chips, and Retro Red Chips.

Is it the mold/finishing of the chip that changes the color? Or other?

It's my understanding that there's always the possibility of some variability to colors from batch to batch. That's why people ordering a set from CPC are always encouraged to get all their chips that are the same color from the same batch if possible. If you're ordering 300 red chips and you think down the road you might want 200 more, you might be better off to just order all 500 at once.
