Hi All,

This is my new CPC cash set [my second in fact] - I made some errors the first time around and really need to nail this, especially as i'm in the UK [hence the denominations] and the import tax is a bitch.

I will be either selling my old chips or most likely re-labeling them with gear labels for my one table SNGs.

Here's the set link, I don't know how to make a composite PNG image.

http://pokerchipdesigntool.com/?imp_sets=2d4GGOQa

[will post artwork idea after I get initial feedback on colour]

My thinking is to limit myself to unweighted colours as i'd prefer to not see the brass flecks and would like to keep chip weight and height as consistent as possible.

Any help is greatly appreciated:

YELLOW = 25p
BLUE = £1
RED = £5
GREEN = £25

Get mold samples if you haven’t yet
I've been reading up on the hourglass mold and it seems unpopular for weight and texture. I'm now thinking small diamonds because those take a 1inch label [not that i'm married to this] however i'm waiting to how this will effect lead time and price.

Be keen to know how people feel about the a-mold

My designer sent me these label ideas, be keen to know opinions. I'm leaning to number 1 with a few tweaks.

Don't hate on the Hourglass mold too quickly. Mine are hourglass and I have samples of damn near everything but the jockey mold.

When in play at full scale, the Hourglass is on par with just about everything else. I'd venture to say the A mold feels more plastic and lightweight than the HG. The only weight difference I've noticed by feel is the unweighted base colors, which feel lighter by quite a bit in stacks of 20 vs weighted colors.

Diasq is a phenomenal mold.

Don’t love the progression to the offset 4d18, 3d18 would flow better, or 3d14, 3ta916, 3v ...

I agree but I also dislike the flecks in the compound. This is the only reason I'm thinking of ditching HG as I've sold myself on the unweighted colours only concept

I don't have a sample but they seem the most popular, do you find them too light in feel?

Every mold weighs essentially the same, my favorite molds feel-wise are DiaSq, SmCrown and B-Mold

Simple, but looks good with standard Vegas colors as the base
That's what
Go wild! Why 25 and not 20?

Do you like the colors or do you want more?

In UK casinos £25 chips are used and I'm used to them in at our home games..

Yeh I'm happy with the colours but I don't have samples of any of the unweighted colours. I toyed with having daylo organge as the £5 base but I went safe because they didn't look as warm in some photos I saw.

I saw some pics of another set of dayglo peacock and they looked cool.

I can't really get any samples as I'm looking at a 10 month wait if I don't order soon

I get it. I have my personal preference of having the 20 match a $20 bill that most people at my game buy in with. Easier for me after a few drinks to cash everyone out at the end of the night. One Barrel of $1 = $20.

Just wanted to check in. All the options if you're paying big money.

A 10-month wait is way better than a $2000 mistake on chips you really don't like. Get the mold samples. Thank me later.

FWIW (which isn't much, since what YOU like is really the only important point), I prefer molds with an outer ring. For that reason, in order:

I like:
  • jockey
  • diamond square
  • circle square
  • B
  • horsehead
  • A
I dislike:
  • scroll
  • H
  • FDL
  • elephant & crown
  • hourglass
  • cards & dice
  • plain
I also like the scrown and lcrown molds, even though they lack the outer ring..... but mostly for nostalgic reasons.

Haha I love how you made allowance's based on how drunk you projected yourself to be.

I had samples of the horsehead and diamond sq, i'm going with the later. I'm more inclined to get some unweighted samples so see if the 0.4g difference bugs me, I imagine the trade off is small to have the finish i'm after [no flecks]

That's the idea, did toy with Dayglo Orange as the base for the £5/red

In terms of having my 600 piece cover all games I came up with the following [our home games are usually £1/£1 but I want to be able to run a small £1/2 6max game] If 1/2 becomes more regular i'll add £100 chips at a later date.

Any thought on this?

I think that a 600 chip set with those denoms is too small for £1/£2 but it also depends on player tendencies

After the spot name it says (L6) for level six.

Edit: I'm not fully awake. I though the above post was a question but after posting I realized it was an answer.

I want to ensure that my set covers 0.25/0.50 and 1/1 which are the usual games. The most we've ever had on the table is 3k and typical buy ins are 100-200BB [200BB is the max] what do you think of this breakdown.

.25 = 100
1 = 250
5 = 300
25 = 150

I figured that .25 is for blinds, 1 will get often in both games and the 5 will be the workhorse chip. The 25s give me the required bank coverage. Could I get away with this and save money:

.25 = 100
1 = 250
5 = 250
25 = 100

Too many $1s, more $5s probably better but workable

My recommendation will be slightly unorthodox, but its breakdowns like these that I'm leaning towards these days:

80/160/260/100. Plenty of chips for blinds, small and bigger bets with an almost $4k bank

I usually recommend 10/20/20/10 per player (half as many lowest and highest denoms as the middle/workhorse chips) so a ten-player set would be 100/200/200/100 for 600 chips. If the set is doing double-duty for both 25c/50c and 1/1, then that would be 10/20/20/20/10 per person (100/200/200/200/100, 800 chips 10-handed), or 80/160/160/160/80 (640 chips, 25c - $100) for 8-handed play.

The two denoms that could be increased are maybe the $1 and definitely the $5, while the 25c count is pretty much a minimum, and the $20/$25 and $100 can be scaled down some if the game doesn't play really big (replaced by more $5s and $1s).

Thanks, my games are always 8 handed so I'm considering 80/160/320/140 for my 700ct set, I'm slightly nervous that isn't enough £1 for the. 25/.50 so maybe 80/200/300/120. I'm planning to add £100 chips at a later date if there's ever a desire to play 1/2

80/200/300/120 should be plenty. That's $3000 in top denom $25s alone.
