Controversial Chip & Poker Opinions (74 Viewers)

30,000 - 50,000 pca $5s released. With so many goats, we need more shepherds!

(I had a longer response, but I don’t disagree with you. Yet, I sold Ballys $5s at a loss because no one wanted…..shaped, textured inlay Housemold thcs.

There’s what PCF says, and then what PCF does. And the 2 aren’t even remotely close.)
Well you sold your Bally’s at the worse timing (Tigers release) and they are about 2g less than PCAs.

Yeah, dropped off the weight part. Which tbh I don’t even shuffle chips, lol so I’m prob the odd member out here on not giving too much of a care about that.

But like I’ve always said I’m a host and gambler not a chipper.

Lol at people tabling 2, 5, $10,000 poker chip sets on a racetrack table with foldout chairs. You have to use a flashlight to see your cards and drink lukewarm Diet Rite, but don’t worry there’s a Deckmate9 installed!

I don't know which Bally's youre talking about. Housemolds aren't for everybody. Were they leaded? Were they part of a playable set from the same casino, fracs up to big chips? That's what PCAs offer (in near mint condition, THC, leaded, shaped textured inlay), and that's what's tough to match.
You know I'm 1000% with you on the Jacks hate. But PCAs are something special.

The Agaves are like almost 10g (besides the $5s).

I do think around 8g it’s noticeably lighter. My friends who aren’t into chips at all even noticed without me saying anything. They could tell the Tiger 43mm were lighter than some of my other 39mm chips

That's true, but Tigers have so much else going for them, if not weight. I mean, they're not leaded clays, and they don't have textured inlays and they don't have shaped inlays, and they're not from a Vegas casino or any actual casino at all, but damnit they're colorful!

The green claw NCVs are barely 7g…they felt like necco wafers.

A majority of green chips, even leaded, are light weight. Shaped Aztar $25s are like 8.X. Weight is closely tied to base color regardless of when it was made.

There are outliers of course. If you come across a heavy day green consider yourself lucky. Badlands day green for example are oddly heavy.

The nagb Housemold tigers were much heavier than the nagb thc tigers.

Jus sayin.

NAGB housemold tigers??? How'd I miss that?!?
Come out east coast to meetup and run the tourneys pllllllleeeeeeease. Maybe we convince @kk405 and @JeepologyOffroad to debut their Housemold tigers so you can see them.

Interesting. I love green chips and had never noticed any that were particularly light.

The BJs are from my mixed, leaded cash set. I think the base in Munzel.

And while these Day Green starbursts aren't super heavy, they're not light either.

Nice. Maybe batch variation? My first rack was around 8.7-8.8 iirc

Some green shades are heavier for sure. Usually it’s day green lighter. Pink also tends to be heavier and white as well.

Quite a few Tigers tip the scales at 9 plus. I’ve seen certain people with an anti-Tiger agenda alleging they are all super light, but it is simply incorrect in my experience. In my two sets, 69% (9/13) of the denoms are over 9g. (Cali cash $1-$1k; VIP 2 $1-$500).

It really is mostly color dependent. And often brighter colors like day green and new blaze tend to be lighter. So yes, there are light tiger chips. There are also heavier Tiger chips. Agave, RPC, SB, Faro, etc. None of these are unique or different in that regard.

Not Day Green or Sherbet, but these greens are all over 11g/chip (blacks are 11.7+/chip), which is unheard of and nuts:

Anyway, I'm a big fan of leaded RHCs because textured inlays are the nuts and they have large ones. It's also why I ended up liking TRKs more than I thought I would, as they have fatter textured inlays on the ones I have. Now, do I love leaded RHCs mixed with THCs? Not really, but PCA definitely used to be extremely appealing to me when their cost-to-awesomeness ratio was spot on. Then WW spite-bought in bulk, forever driving up the price to throw that ratio way off. Cool. Regardless, they're still nice, especially the high denoms. I'd be very happy to play with a set and am shocked I've never touched a single chip of them besides a BOH I once had.

People who consider custom CPCs their grail watching others argue over weight

View attachment 1577882
When I first handed my custom CPC to a non-chipper they said "these aren't that heavy". Lesson to be learned? Any chipper that says this is the same as a non-chipper to me. (yes that's pure deflection GFY)

I'll check when I'm home later, but I think my milled sherbet green solid come in around 9 g, and the day greens at about 8.5 g
