Looks like the 17 year visitors have arrived in Maryland. My dog has feasted on dozens. Going to be a long and noisy couple of weeks. Trillions of mating bugs yay!

My kids love them. The info out every morning and gather hundreds. Then throw them around like helicopter seeds. Haha
 
I was outside last night getting my wallet from my car and I could hear them moving and coming out of the molts. It was shocking how much noise bugs can make just by moving.

I actually like the sound of them buzzing but this sound was freaking me out.
 
they have started coming up here (NWI) the last couple days, thousands of them, it's
awesome, gotta love mother nature
 
We just had a huge swarm like 3 years ago. I thought they only come once every 17 years
 
This is a different brood. Actually two of them. One of those rare instances when 13 and 17 year converge. But the area is Midwest and south. The DMV should be spared from this one.
