China Clay Odor Question (1 Viewer)

I was wondering if the odor problem is fairly equal among all china clay chips or worse with certain models/manufacturers. I recently bought a set of Milanos and found the smell to be too much.

If there's anyone else that found the odor to be unbearable, is there another chip in a similar price range that you'd recommend?

My China clay pharaoh chips had a strong odor. I ended up selling them and buying Paulson pharaoh’s. My cc 8v chips did not really have an odor. Check around on the site, I know there are threads dedicated to removing odors for chips.

Stinky: 1 being worst... 3 being still kinda stinky.

2 Pharaohs
3 majestics

Owned them all. Sold them all. Still trying to get Guangdong provence smell out.

I think most have found the odor goes away... these things sit wrapped in plastic sleeves... let them breathe some. But seriously. I’ve had a ton of CC chips, and the6 all kinda stank at first. Still have 1600 Milano’s, which get into play from time to time. No stink now whatsoever, love em

Thanks everyone! I saw the threads on techniques for neutralizing the smell but after airing them out for a few days and not noticing any change I wasn't feeling optimistic. Maybe I just need to give it more time.

I bought about 1000 Majestics in 2017 and I remember a smell at first but was nothing that lingered after they were oiled, etc. It was such a non-issue for me that I never really thought about it...I only read about it here.

I have a 1000 Majestics. I remember the odor when they arrived and I took them out of the box and plastic wrap. I never oiled them, just put them in play and haven't really noticed anything since. No one in the game has ever commented

I've got 600 CPS chips, never noticed any smell (unless you actually sniff 'em up close, in which they smell of.... plastic. Who knew?)

I had large sets of both Pharaoh's Club and the CPS chips, and once free of their commercial bindings and exposed to air, a bothersome smell was no longer an issue. The Pharaoh's were oiled, the CPS's were not. Both were left out unstacked in large 'splashed pots' for a period of time to allow ample air exposure and circulation.

On my newer Milanos (3 months or so) 've been leaving their case open to the air and the smell has noticeably dissipated.

I think one just needs to give them time and the smell will be gone.

I like the smell, but it has mostly gone away.

It's like that "new car smell". Some like it, some hate it, but after time (and use) it's gone.

So far I only got myself a sample set of both cc Pharaohs and Majestics. Both types smelled when they arrived. As I shuffled and handled them to get a good feel of the chips I noticed that the smell on the Pharaohs dissipated a lot faster, but in the end the smell mostly disappeared from both types.

Dunes also very stanky. Clean them with warm soapy water. Oil with mineral oil. after a while smell is gone.

I just got a few brand new barrels of CC Pharaohs from Apache. They have a slight smell. Non-offensive. Had to stick the barrel right up to my schnoz to detect it. If this is not common behavior for your buddies around the table, then I doubt you should worry much.

i bought some "KINGS CASINO"just one barrel - they stink like oily metal...

i would never buy more of those chips
