I wrote a script that takes all of the polling results from each of the "Rate this inlay" threads and combines them into a sortable public dashboard. This dashboard will update with current data every time I run the script. I'll try to find a way to embed the dashboard directly here somewhere, but I don't know if the software can support it or not yet. I'll have to work with @Tommy on that to see if it's possible. For now, here's a link to the dashboard and a screenshot below. Enjoy...

Great idea & excellent execution of this. Very cool Travis.

Paris is a surprise. I love it, but I thought most others just liked the chip for the basicness of the $1 to relabel.

Ratings poll requests:
Dunes Golf Course
Stardust (see avatar)
Sahara w/ camel
Thunderbird
Those are some good ones

Haha, well just saying, since you're a quantitative person, there's more in your dataset than just the mean ;)

For me, showing the actual chip(s) in the voting threads and not showing only the inlay by itself (perhaps with a little clay, as Frog mentions below) will forever cast significant doubts on the results. *shrug*

I agree, that actual chip has probably skewed every vote I have cast, now that I think about it...

I know what you’re getting at, but inlays are sometimes color matched so in those instances you need some of the clay

Of course it has. It has biased everyone's vote, even if they claim otherwise. It's a question of which you want to measure: the inlay itself entirely divorced of any chip to which it is paired, or the inlay itself in the context of its role in the chip. Inlays are often designed with the chip itself in mind. What value is there in critiquing the Palms tourney set inlays if they're not shown with their clay counterparts? Or the Duy's Palace? Or the Blades blood chip? Or any other color matched chip for that matter? Even chips like Mapes were designed with the bright colors in mind, selecting a simple, clean background of black & white to really make the clay pop more and stand out. It's why Mapes sell for double what the Money Trees go for.

You can argue which approach is more interesting; critiquing the inlay cropped out of a chip without context, or critiquing the inlay in the context of its chip. I think the latter is far more interesting, and I would argue that most of you would agree with me. If you disagree, then try cropping out the Vineyards $5 inlay sticking it on a few other random chips and see if you still like it. When you purchase bedding or a rug, do you make your decisions without any consideration of the rooms they will live in, or do you just buy something because you like it even if it doesn't match?

Valid points but the poll is rate the “inlay” not rate this “entire chip”.

Right, but you can still rate the inlay itself while looking at the entire chip, it would just be biased or influenced by the chip (and I would argue that it should be). But if the poll said, "rate this chip", you'd still get different results than what these polls show.

I think I 'm gonna faint.
The Athenian Owls ranking higher than Paris, Mapes, Aria or PCA:jawdrop:
Thanks to all for the love!:):):)

It's a cool graphic, nice job. I like it!

However, I general, I should caution against the comparing of custom sets vs casino sets from a statistical standpoint. All custom sets will have an inherent response bias that casino sets won't have. People don't want to offend users in the community, so they will often vote higher than they might otherwise, or just not vote at all if they dislike someone's artwork. So it's not really an equal playing field when comparing customs vs casinos when it comes to the data.

I think the custom sets would be a way more fun discussion. As long as the owner isn’t offended I think it would be cool

I think it's bad form to post someone's custom set without their permission.
