Cash Game Cash set structure 50c/$1 (6 Viewers)

Hi everyone,

I've spent the last few days working on designs for a custom tina cash set. Before I pull the trigger on the purchase, I'd appreciate any advice on how I structure the quantity of denominations. I would ideally like a 500 chip cash set, consisting of $0.50, $1, $5, $25, $100 chips. I've been playing 50c/$1, and $1/$2 with $50~$100 buy ins, 6~10 people.
I've seen a few responses to similar questions saying that they should play $1/$1 and ditch the 50c but I'd prefer to keep them in as I've grown attached to the designs.

Also, I believe Tina sells each chip in sets of 25? Please confirm if that is true.

Welcome! How does your game play, whats the usual bank? There's 50c/1 games that end the night with $700 on the table, and there's 1/2 games that end with $10,000+. Where does your game fall? And is there a rake or tips? You'll have to pad the $1s if chips are leaving the table.

Pretty safe bet is
50c/1/5/25/100
60/100/200/100/40

for a bank of $7,500+. If you want another barrel of $100s that's fine, just shave off some of the 50c pieces because they should only be used for blinds.

If you're going the Tina route, 500 chips isn't many. The chips are cheap and for games with your stakes, I'd rather spend a bit to get another 100 or so 1s or 5s so there's less change making and the game is smoother.

@Machine has a specific thread that I can’t find on the 500 poker chip set - but there’s so many on this topic can’t find it. In general, it won’t work for the spread of games you want.

I wouldn’t recommend 500 with the denoms you want. Something like the below only gives you $3.8k bank:

75x $0.50
175x $1
200x $5
25x $25
25x $100

you want ~5000 big blinds in the bank especially if you have up to 10 players. I’ve got up to around $3.5k on the table in a 0.5/$1 game as example.

Would recommend bumping your quantities:

75x $0.5 ($50)
200x $1 ($100)
200x $5 ($1000)
100x $25 ($2,500)
100x $100 ($10,000)

If you change from this, reduce some $100s and more $5s.

100/200/200/75/25 is really versatile.


Though if using 50c, they are only needed for small blinds so x50 or x75 would do. Leaving some buffer for more 1s or 5s. Depending what your workhorse chip is. Are raises more likely to be done in more $1s? Like $3, $4 or even $7 $8 $9 (more $1s than $5s) then I would get extra $1s.

If you're married to 500 chips, you could start with the low denominations and let $20 bills on the table play. You'll probably get tired of it and want to top up to one of the recommended sets though =)

If you're dead set on not readin @Machine posts, below is my advice for your stakes. Just avoids too much change making and let's everyone start with a good amount of chips for your stakes.

50c/$1/$5/$25/$100
75/200/200/100/25

Starting stacks are not important for cash games, but something like this gets them on the table.
4 50c = $2
18 $1s = $18
16 $5s = $80

for $100 buyin. The rest of the cash in $5s. Bank is $6k+, you'll be fine. If you kill the bank just use $100s.

Let the record show I am not an efficient chipper, I have 200 quarters and 300 $1s because I think they're pretty.

I usually give out a barrel of quarters lol, I am not one to hamstring. But I also don't love 50c/$1 when the 50c is only used for a single blind. I want to limit betting with them and having to worry about the 2x sizing.

Fine with a whole rack of 50c but the pot should have a max of 1 each pot, and OP came in wanting to be real efficient.

FWIW I regularly play with a SB chip (25c/50c with both denoms because it's the set I have not necessarily the set I want). 6 sb chips per person appears to be the sweet spot, change is almost never needed. 4 ought to be fine with some change-making.

And yes, they do feel in the way. I won't be buying 50cs in my next set, if we raise stakes it will be directly to $1/1.

In my limited experience, 50¢/50¢ plays exactly the same as 25¢/50¢.

For my last set, I just went with ND fracs. So I can play 25¢/50¢, 50¢/50¢, or 50¢/$1.

If you also suffer from OCD, a Versa Deluxe "500ct" case can carry at least 620 chips, 100 of which in 4 SOFT plastic tubes in the middle, after you take out the unnecessary dividers for cards, with bear hands.
Let's say 625, to abide by Tina's 25 rule.
75x 0.5
175x $1
250x $5
100x $20 or 25
25x $100
Edit: this, IMHO, is the minimum. It gets a lot nicer and future-proof at 800 chips.
Edit2: make sure the fractionals are Non Denominated, in order to still be useful in bigger games as $2s or even $10s, in the future.

Either buy quarters for smaller stakes or forego the half dollars and play 1/1

In $1, $5, $20/$25, $100 format, 200/300/175/25 should cover most 1/1 games with ease.

At this point whats another few hundred bucks XD. $0.50*125, $1*325, $5*275, $25*175, $100*100, is what I've come up with. Doubt I'll see $16k on the felt haha. I'm just thinking about storage as well and 1000 seems to be a nice clean number.

I think 800 is sensible. With 900 you could get to a $10k bank, which is what people here will recommend you have to play $1/2

For 1000, I honestly don't know. 100/250/400/200/50? Or add a fifth rack of 5s (people love 5s).

With 1,000 chips, you can get a lot of 1s and run 2/4 limit with the same set (albeit not with as many chips as people here want, but enough to play it).
100/600/200/75/25 (Bank: $6,025, $5,375 in $5-100)

.50/1: 10/20/15
1/2: 25/20/3
2/4 Limit: 50-75/0/1-2 ($100 buy-in, you can always go higher).
