Personnally I like it. It's the same type of mold as the scroll from CPC.
But in my opinion, it'll be difficult to find enough people what would agree to order 50k+ chips on a same mold. Even a ceramic one. But I hope I'm wrong.

id argue there has been over 300k cards mold chips made in the last 12-18months. they technically owe us a few molds already.

Well if anyone ever creates something in the likeness of THC/HHR/CSQ with the dual recessed rings, i'm in for at least 1,000 (assuming the price is comparable to the current ceramics).
 
@BGinGA was working on some ideas for a new mold for Tina's ceramics, but it's been a while since the last update and nothing has come of it so far.

If anyone has a good idea for a new mold and is willing to put in the effort to make it happen, I'm sure there would be enough interest to fund it.

They absolutely would with zero hesitation. It's not that much different than making copies of live casino chips like many card mold buys have already done. It's a matter of "when", not "if".
 
Tastes vary, of course, but I think a THC mold on a ceramic chip would be terrible. What's appealing to me about THC chips is not the mold's appearance, it's all the other characteristics that THCs have, i.e. their weight, texture, and feel. The mold appearance isn't bad, and is better than many others (especially RHC), but a ceramic chip with a THC mold won't feel anything at all like a Paulson THC and - in my opinion - would simply be a waste of money that could have been better spent making a new mold with a distinctive, original, and attractive design suitable for using on a ceramic chip.

That's completely aside from the ethical considerations of infringing on Paulson's trademark and copyright and of producing close replicas of existing chips (that's three separate and independent ethical considerations for anyone who's counting).

I’m not speaking for you or me, but as a group, this doesn’t remotely matter. Please see popularity of boat chip/Boardwalk fiascos. Heck, even look to right here where people are ordering card molds that other chippers purchased/own.

I think most will ignore this issue or see it as victimless.

This right here. The only thing stopping this is someone stepping up to put in the time and effort to do this. To those who are interested - start a new thread and come up with an idea. Get some feedback from Tina regarding if it's doable and start taking the orders. I'd be happy to provide some assistance, and I'm sure several others here would too, but I just don't have the time right now to take the lead.

something generic like this would be ideal. ties in with the card / casino theme. maybe not as busy as that . half the amount of impressions would work well IMO

The why is just for me. It's over a line for me personally. If someone else wants to do it, go for it. Personally I like C&S mold better than THC, so if I were going to utilize a popular existing mold, I would pick that. But I'd prefer something a little more unique, or at least less common. And I think for a ceramic mold from China, I'd go with a little simpler design. I'm not completely confident that Tina's company could effectively pull off a mold with the complexity of THC or C&S.

THC is not very complex.
Their diamonds mold is not simpler than the THC one imho.

Also, they can manufacture with high quality output if you want. It'll just not be cheap. This is just why for instance SF PolyClay chips have a better edge alignment and no spinners. But it comes with a higher price tag.

I would hope the wording of my posts is such that it's clear I am only stating my opinion. When stating facts, I will attempt to make that very obvious. If you have a different opinion and want to work with Tina to design a THC ceramic chip, then go for it. It's just not something I'm interested in doing.
 
Well, it's a forum and it's all about exchanging our opinions so we are all on the same page I think.

I'm not interested in doing a THC mold too (or even order from Tina in fact). Just saying that complexity wise, in my opinion, there is not much complexity in the THC mold compared to other mold already produced in China but it's also just my opinion.

You can’t operate that project as a democratic exercise. GB runner just needs to make an executive decision and rip the group buy. People will always complain no matter what. You can scrounge up 50k super easy. My first private GB of just a half dozen people or so hit about 20k.
 
Anyone interested in making a new custom mold for Tina chips should read this thread first, where various members including @BGinGA were brainstorming for a new mold design, initially intended for SunFly but then later considered for Tina. Lots of valuable information and ideas in that thread.

That thread had a lot of promise and I was hopeful that Dave would be able to get some of his other improvements as well. Such as a blank with sharper edges. But I haven't heard much from Dave lately, so not sure if he hit roadblocks or just lost interest.

Regarding edges, I have cards mold chips from several different batches, and as some of us have discussed previously, there can be some small differences. I'm assuming they supply their blanks from various sources. If we could successfully communicate out desires to Tina (not a certainty) I would love to see her go back to one of the blanks they used in the past that clearly had sharper edges than most of the others. I believe I posted pics in one of these threads that identified some edge differences. If we get a new thread going, I will re-post the pics and will try to come up with exactly which batch the sharper ones came in.

I would 100% be onboard with a word molded tribute set. The Taj Mahal set from @Eloe2000 with the molded "Taj Mahal" lettering would be awesome. Although it's probably much harder to get enough interest with something that specific. Mirage and Bellagio would also be cool.
