They are plastic and weigh in at about 7g. If you can find them used in the denominations you want they make for durable travel sets, or for use outdoors, over hard floors, etc.. Kardwell International has them at outrageous prices, they are worth only a couple cents apiece.

They are constructed of three pieces of thin plastic (an insert sandwiched between two shells) so milling is not an option, and the surface of the center of the chip is flush with the outer rim so labeling is not viable either.

Agree with the above. They're not terrible, but definitely not worth the price either. If they had a stamp I really liked and the breakdown was somehow perfect, I still wouldn't pay more than .10 cents each.
