hi looking a buying a 500 chip tourney set for a home game of anywhere from 6-10 players i play at the local pub and the blind structures start at 100/200 and i enjoy that structure my issue is finding what amount to fill up the 500 set, as well as what amount to give each player e.g 10k, 20k, 30k. if anyone could help with this it would be much appreciated.

I found this post to be very helpful. You can adjust accordingly but this should set you on the right path IMO.

I ran a couple games with a set of 125x100 / 75x500 / 150x1000 // 150x5000 and I had no problems so far, might be able to lower the 500s however since most of the manufactures I was buying from only offered 25 barrels I had to go with these numbers.

Our pubs used to start us with 4x25s, 4x100s, 3x500s $ 1x1000. It sucked havin to call and get change from middle constantly though and is a pretty short stack as their games can only go about 3 hrs.
But 8x25, 8x100, 4x500 works nice as 3k torney using 100 and 500 chips to chip up. With this u can have 10 people, be able to chip up, and you only need 240 chips (20 each at start and 20x100 and 20x500 to chip up). with 500 chips you could easily manage multiple starting options using 1000 and 5000 chips if you wanted or more 25,100,500 if you want more chips on the table.
Games usually finish when there is around 20big blinds left, so 3k for ten people means 30k chips with the game gettin close to done by 500/1000 blinds.
25/50, 50/100, 100/200, 150/300, 200/400, 300/600, 400/800, 500/1000. (blinds option)
1/2hr blinds could make this a 4hr game and allow for a decent heads up battle.

so
80x 25s,
100x 100s
60x 500
would be ya min chips and you could add whatever to bulk out to a 300 or 500 chip set if u want

Typical advisable starting stack is a T10k

8x25
8x100
6x 500
6x 1k

Or

12x 25
12x100
5x 500
6x 1k

For 10 people, 400 chips

120x 25
120x100
50x500
90x 1k
20x 5k

To make it an even 500, I would add more 5ks and cleanup the barrels of 1ks and 500s.

Gives you flexibility to run a T10k with plenty of chips for rebuys or a T20K. I'm personally a fan of this type of structure over a T100 tournament, but both work well.

Can you share this excel file?
It's in google sheets. I made a copy to share and locked down fields that shouldn't be touched. It has some hiccups such as it can't color up 2 chips at once. So if you wanted to use 500's to color up your 25's and 100's it isn't smart enough to do that. It also needs you to tell it your denominations in order. There's a drop down list that will warn you about changing that field. That's to prevent someone from Typing it instead of choosing from the list. If others try and use it, it may be best to copy paste it to your own google sheet. Good luck and PM me if you have any questions.
