Looking at doing a 500 chip tournament set and a seperate 300 chip cash set.

for the tournament t10000 with 25/50 starting blinds estimate 10 people

I am thinking
100x25
150x100
100x500
125x1000
25x5000

chips must be in quantities of 25

that gives staring stacks of
8x25
13x100
5x500
6x1000

For the cash set 300 chips for a .25/.25 cash game with $20 buyin

this one I am thinking

125x.25
150x1
25x5

starting stack
8 x.25
13x1
1x5

If you are trying to keep to 800 chips total I would go:

Tournament: 400 chips (allows color ups and rebuys)
125x25
125x100
50x500
75x1000
25x5000

staring stacks of
12x25
12x100
5x500
6x1000

Cash set 400 chips for a .25/.25 cash game with $20 buyin

100x.25
200x1
75x5
25x25

starting stack
8 x.25
13x1
1x5

Honestly, I would still prefer way more cash chips. Is this enough bank for you?

You need fewer tourney chips and more cash chips.

400 is plenty for a single-table T25-base tournament set:

125 x T25
125 x T100
50 x T500
75 x T1000
25 x T5000
-------------------
400 chips for ten T10k stacks (12/12/5/6) with enough extra T1000 and T5000 chips to handle color-ups, re-buys, and/or larger starting stacks.

For a 25c/25c cash game, go with at least 500 chips, depending how big your game plays:

150 x 25c
200 x $1
150 x $5
or
150 x 25c
200 x $1
100 x $5
50 x $20 (or $25)

Pass out a barrel (20) of quarters to the first 7 players (the remainder can get change at the table), and distribute all of the $1 chips before breaking out the $5s.

In 100% agreement with the advice listed above on tournament breakdown.

125 x T25
125 x T100
50 x T500
75 x T1000
25 x T5000
400 total chips

With 12/12/5/6 this breakdown is crazy efficient with only 10 chips not in play (excluding color up / rebuy chips)
You can even go 15k starting stacks and still have the perfect amount left over for color ups and rebuys.

I would suggest between 500 and 600 chips for a 10 player cash game to have the proper feel to it, so I would use one of BG's breakdowns.

If you absolutely must keep this to 800 chips total between cash and tourney, then I think 125/200/75 would play better than what you listed for your 300 chip breakdown. With a total bank of $606 you can have 12/17 starting stacks then rebuy with the remaining ones then go to all $5's. With a $600 bank you can handle 3 $20 rebuys per player.

I would still give serious consideration to 500 chips for a 10 player cash game with 600 being the sweet spot IMHO. The 400 chip tourney breakdown is as close to perfection as you can get. Good luck and what chips did you decide on?

You guys are going to make me spend more money. I am getting custom ceramics

Look the 400/400 breakdown works with

125 x T25
125 x T100
50 x T500
75 x T1000
25 x T5000
400 total chips T10k 12/12/5/6

and

125 x .25
200 x $1
75 x $5

400 total chips bank of $606 starting stacks 12/17 ($20)

So that's the original 800 chips you were intending to buy in the OP, we just moved 100 tourney chips that were redundant to the cash set where they are needed.

You could always add more cash chips later if you feel that you need them. With customs, I'm not sure what the minimum order numbers are you may want to look into that. It may be worth it to buy 100 chips more now then get into a situation where you need to buy a minimum of 300 later, I'm not sure on those numbers so you should probably ask before you order. Custom ceramics sounds cool, can't wait to see them!

I am also afraid to buy chips from different production runs, sometimes there is no difference in color or thickness, sometimes there is so it always makes me nervous. I did both runs of the sun fly mountain top group buy and I was very happy to see that there was absolutely no difference in the two production runs despite the fact that the second run was made in a totally different factory. Are they ABC ceramics or the hybrids card mold gb. If they are from a gb I would try to get all the chips you think you will need just in case the gb never runs again. If it's from an actual shop then you have less of a concern.

+1 on the 400 chip tournament set suggested above. 12/12/5/6 is the way to go and the 125/125/50/75/25 breakdown is perfect.

For 0.25-0.25 cash I say cut back the fracs to 100*0.25 and do 200*1/75*5/25*25, 1225 bank, should cover single table 0.25-0.25 or 0.25-0.50. if you can do 200 more chips for an even 1000, add a rack of each singles and fives to the above.

Also, if you are good with a 9 player tournament set, you could go with a tight breakdown of 8/8/4/7 to buy 75/75/50/75/25 for only 300 chip tournament set. This would leave you 500 chips for cash and a total of 800.

There are options, think hard.

I am more likely to have more than 10 players for a tournament than I am in cash game. I don;t even know if we will ctually have cash games I just want to ahve chips in case we do. Everyone I know who to plays wants to play tournaments.

So want to keep that in mind in case the tournament goes to 2 tables.

With that in mind I have decided to order 1000 chips

I am now thinking

.25 - 125
$1 - 200
$5 - 75

$25 - 150
$100 - 200
$500 - 100
$1000 - 125
$5000 - 25

that's 400 chips .25-$5 for a possible cash game as advised above and the rest for tournament chips in case it does expand greater than 10

Are these customs that you're ordering?

You're missing the point. Ordering more tournament chips doesn't support more players unless they are the correct tournament chips -- otherwise it's just wasting money on useless chips.

What starting stack are you planning? To me the smallest starting stack to plan with base T25 is 8/8/4/7

So for 18 players you would buy 150/150/75/150/25 for 550 chips. I don't think you can do 2 tables for any less than that.

If your limit is 800 chips total and you are planning t9 a cash set, it's gonna be tight. Really for 0.25-0.25 or 0.25-0.50 100 quarters is sufficient, But if you are trying to do this on a 300 chip set. You probably should cut to 75 and maybe even down to 50. You really need the bulk in your signles for this cash set.

That said, I prefer bigger cash sets and tight tournament sets.

1000 total chips

I think I will add a $10 denom

Don't add a $10 demon, it's a waste. Make it $20 for your cash set.

Tournament:
T25 x 150
T100 x 150
T500 x 75
T1k x 200
T5k x 25
600 chips; max 12 players with 12/12/5/6 starting stacks and 18 players with 8/8/4/7 starting; 6 rebuys with 10x T1k and 12 rebuys with 2x5k. The remaining chips should allow you to colour up the T25 and T100s.

For your cash set,
25c x 100
$1 x 200
$5 x 75
$20 x 25
12/12/1 starting stacks for $20 buy-in 25c/25c cash game for 8 players. Bank of $1,225.

i like this because i could do 2 tables and an add on or rebuy. Yeah I already decided to do a 20 instead of 10

Good because I think this is about the best advice you can get.

I might not even bother with a 20 chip for your cash set though, rather have 100 fives and just let 20 bills be on the table if you exhaust the fives. You have a bank of 725 this way.

For your cash set,
25c x 100
$1 x 200
$5 x 75
$20 x 25

Actually this bank would be an even 1000.
25 in quarters
200 in singles
375 in fives
400 in twenties.

I messed up my math (my spreadsheet was counting the 20s as 25s) but you messed up yours also :)

$500 in 20s for a total bank of $1100.

But really if 800 is your limit, having a two-table tournament set plus a cash set is too much to squeeze. You could do a one table tournament and cash set pretty easy.

75/75/50/75/25 of T25/100/500/100/5000 accommodates 9 stacks of 8/8/4/7 with 300 chips with extras for color ups/re-entries/occasional deeper stacks etc.
100/200/200 of 0.25/1/5 accommodates a 500 chip cash set with a bank of 1225. (24.5 buy-ins of 50, or between 2-3 per player which I think is the right spot, you can have 20 dollar bills in play if you exhaust the bank.)

I think this is the definitive answer for an 800 chip limit. If you really need a two table tournament set, I don't see a way without adding at least 250 chips.

150/150/75/150/25 of T25/100/500/100/5000 accommodates 18 stacks of 8/8/4/7 with 550 chips leaving 250 for cash if you limit is strict at 800 chips. You have enough for color ups in this breakdown, but you loose a bit of flexibility on re-entries (only 12 available at T10K) and deep stacks compared to the 300 chip 9-player setup.

Maybe for cash you can squeeze 75/125/50 of 0.25/1/5 with 250 chips for a bank of 393.75, 9 buy-ins of 40 would average to stacks of 8/13/5, with very few extra chips after that. You probably would have to operate with 20 dollar bills on the table and really there may not be enough fives to go around to change them as needed.

nah I upped it to 1k chips, well 1010 really since I am adding 10 plaques for fun.

I am going with the 600/400 break down above with 10 10k plaques if I want to do a 20k 10 person

T25 x 150
T100 x 150
T500 x 75
T1k x 200
T5k x 25
600 chips; max 12 players with 12/12/5/6 starting stacks and 18 players with 8/8/4/7 starting; 6 rebuys with 10x T1k and 12 rebuys with 2x5k. The remaining chips should allow you to colour up the T25 and T100s.

For your cash set,
25c x 100
$1 x 200
$5 x 75
$20 x 25

Good, I think you settled on a pretty good answer.

T1k x 200
T5k x 25

600 chips; max 12 players with 12/12/5/6 starting stacks and 18 players with 8/8/4/7 starting; 6 rebuys with 10x T1k and 12 rebuys with 2x5k. The remaining chips should allow you to colour up the T25 and T100s.

Just a thought, certainly not required, you could consider cutting the T1K chips to 150 and adding 50*T5K, so you can do all rebuys with 2*5K, that would enable you to accomodate 37 rebuys :). You still would have enough extra T1K chips to color up the T25 and T100 chips. This also would be a much better setup if you decide to experiment with T15K or T20K starting stacks.

And yes, planning 400 for cash set I think accommodates your game much better than trying to do this with 250 chips :).
