Didn't notice the micro dot until I got them in hand:

The 1ks were a lot dirtier when I got them. I have already cleaned them twice, and some of them still have that blue film on them so I am going to have to clean them again with some Oxy or something. I also need to figure out how to get the smoke smell out of these chips. Maybe a vinegar soak? Anyone know?

Not cherry picked - just cleaned. Good amount of flea biting if I took a closer pic. I was surprised about the 1s - agree they are in better condition than I assumed from the initial pics of the sale. Tons of rack checked messes though on the 1s - my fingernails are basically bleeding from magic eraser work.

The Barracrat 5s in much much better condition than the other 5s - by a long shot. may be worth trying to pool those together in some better quality racks. Mine are the top barrel of 5s in the 2nd column from the left. you can tell they're almost near mint.

Wait a minute....
You put them through the Ultra Sonic—twice—and they still have a cigarette smell?

(Sigh)

I was thinking of getting some for a low stakes set, but I will not put smelly chips on my new poker table that my wife doesn't know about yet.

@cvanem please let us know if and how you got rid of the smoke smell.

After you clean them soak them in vinegar, that should help a lot.

I wonder if a baking soda slurry scrub would do the trick too
 
Or baking soda, your choice I guess if you don't mind spending the $1.23 on a box of baking soda....

Oiled them with Baby Oil instead of mineral Oil ? It will smell more user friendly I guess
(Disclaimer I had never done oiling with Baby Oil before)

I read somewhere, and I don't remember where, that using baby oil on chips is very bad™.

I would like to know the results from others if they tried any other methods like vinegar, baking soda, anything else?
 
I'm going to streamline the process and clean my chips in an ultrasound with baby oil in it.
 
If you put the chips in undiluted hydrochloric acid, they won’t smell anymore. This works 100% of the time, by the way. Just drop them in and give them a good stir with a acid-resistant stirrer.

Instructions unclear.

Acid melted the wooden bowl used to stir the chips in. Acid now on my feet. Ow.
Trying again using my copper cookware pot.
Results are 100% effective. All smells are gone since acidic fumes have melted my sinuses.

I hear people and see pictures of live casino chips looking like this, but honestly... I think I would roll out, enjoy my $60 guys!

cool, will be interested to see mine. I wonder if there were ever 5k's * with all of that use on the 500/1000 chips.

I think a public health handwashing campaign may be a good thing to start in Gary Indiana.... lol
