Hello Everyone,

I wanted to get some opinions on your experience of Las Vegas Poker Rooms.

I will be going at the end of February. I only go maybe 1-2 times a year and have more time to spend in a poker room this time around.

Some Topics include:

• Best times during the day to play.
• Bad times during the day to play.
• Specific days that are better to play.
• Specific days that are not that great to play.
• Best 1-2 NL Hold em game
• Best 2-5 NL Hold em game
• Best promotions.
• Rooms to avoid.
• Specific type of players to look for when playing.
• Best Poker Room chips.
• Best tournament for you buck with a skillfull tournament structure.
• Other ideas or topics that are relevant to this topic.

I am also very curious to hear from local Vegas PCFers if you are out there.

My favorite time/place for cash games is around 5-6 AM (yes, am) at the Flamingo. It is full of hammered drunks and senior citizen nits bleeding the frat-boys dry.

As for promotions, they change too often to track more then a week or two out, but I tend to avoid promotions like Freeroll for x hours of play. I don't like to pay into a promotion knowing full-well I cannot cash on it.

Best rooms: Aria, Bellagio, and Wynn. Venetian is also very nice, but I hate Sheldon Adelson and the shit tons of money he has spent to support Trump and prohibit online gaming.

I have had enjoyable times at every Vegas card room I have played in though. The cheaper rooms tend to be more social, the higher end ones, more competitive. It all comes down to your skill and comfort levels as to which game is the best for you.

all depends on time of year and time of day, check the bravo poker app. if you see multiple tables at your stakes this will give you the ability to play with a player pool larger than one table. If the action at your initial table sucks, u can ask for a table change.

if you go to a room with only 1 table running at the stakes you want, you are stuck with it.

dont go in with a plan, just check the action on the app or call ahead to put your name in. if there is a list, theres usually a reason. whether it be a convention at the hotel, a promotion or some whales donking money away.

I love the Mirage Poker room. It is small but well run, 2 bathrooms next to it, right next to the sports book.

It usually only has 4 tables or less of $1/2 going but they are always very soft games. Mostly people staying at the hotel playing the games and they don't know what they are doing for the most part.

The Venetian, Belagio, Wynn, & Aria are all more popular but they attract better players too.

Golden Nugget does not have a 'no flop no drop' policy. They rake every pot, whether you see a flop or not. I will never play there again.

Best days to play are Wed/Sun. Those are the major fly-in days for most tourists and tourists usually go far too hard the first day. They drink like fish and play the same way.

If it means anything to you, the Monte Carlo will permanently close it's poker room April 25th. The hotel is also going through a rebranding, but casino officials have decided that the new property will not have poker.

Another low stakes game bites the dust.

Large rooms with lots of games going all the time. Great tourneys and summer series as well at those places.

Yes, some of those places attract pros more than others but because of the size of the rooms and the casino profiles, lots of recreational players as well.

I rarely venture outside of those choices and when I do, I always regret it, LOL!!!

It's always better to get there early to get a seat. In the middle of the afternoon or at night, you're gonna have to wait for a while...

Not sure about February though Kyle... I'm usually in Vegas Summers and Falls...

Aria 1/2 was very good to me on last trip, up $2k in a few hours on $200 buy in. I felt the players weren't very good, and they had the money to afford the atmosphere. As others have said, It's all about who's at the table so you want options to move if needed. Flamingo definitely had more tight grinders. Aria has a players card promotion wher you get $X per hour. @k9dr would likely know the details.

You should never wait anywhere for a seat. Use the bravo poker app to select where you want to play and then phone ahead and your seat will be waiting for you.

Yeah, I like Planet Hollowood too. Looking at the Pleasure Pit girls is a good time.

Just beware of the donkeys! There are a lot of them there, and they'll take a bite out of your ass, if you're not paying attention! But overall, I've found that room to be quite profitable! I've always liked that place!(y) :thumbsup:

I like the big rooms -

Aria, Venetian and MGM are my favorites. Bellagio, Caesar's and Wynn are next for me.

Playing through Caesar's, Bellagio, Aria is nice loop as they are 3 big rooms that are relatively close to each other.

Play is loose late night into early morning as in midnight to ~ 6 AM

Play is tighter during the day

Friday and weekend play is going to be better as you just have more tourists rolling through - also attracts more pros though

If you sit down at a tight table, don't be afraid to ask the floor for a table change - that's what's great about being in Vegas - more poker tables than you can possibly play

I just got back from Bellagio. First time EVER playing at a casino poker table. If you are any good, hire an armored car to haul off your winnings. They were like ATMs with a pulse. I'm not as good as the pile of chips I won. I played $1/$3, and did the max buyin $300.

First night, I won $300 in a couple hours. Ok, that was fun, not super easy and I was happy to be up.

Second night, thinking first night was a fluke. Same stakes/buyin, 3 hours at the table. In total control from the time I sat down. Crazy

A coworker played $3/$5 and won 3 times as much as I did. I've only played once or twice with him, but believe he's a bit better than I am.

A straight will get no respect. Guys will keep drawing against it.

Smoke odor wasn't too bad and the second night I was near the edge of the room and still not bad.

I never waited more than 10 minutes for a $1/$3 table.

Reading Buknaked's comments, I'd agree and add that the pros probably stay away from $1/$3, and maybe $3/$5, so those could be the sweet spots. It's dollars per hour for them right? And my coworker made 3 times what I did in a similar timeframe.

Thanks. The casino overall is smokey. In fact, I have a throat infection that probably started from the irritation. Lost of guys coughing at our convention there, due to smoke.

I wish there was a smoke free casino. I enjoy a cigar once in a while, but can't stand stale smoke in the air. I know the Parx casino, in PA, has their poker room in a completely separate building, smokefree. I like that.

Wahluburgers is across from the north end of Bellagio, where the crosswalk is. Burgers were good. Had the Haddock sandwich too and that was good. Inside the Bellagio is the Jasmine Cousine. It's on the casino floor and their tables face the fountains. Nice scenery. Ginger fried rice is great, as was the Kung Pao chicken. Tenderloins with red peppers was good, but the peppers are HOT!!! I don't eat red peppers but had dinner with my customers from India. When they sweat, I know the peppers are hot

I was there this past weekend. Mostly stuck to limit games. Played at the Mirage, Flamingo, Excalibur, Planet Hollywood, and Golden Nugget. The Nugget was definitely my favorite. Free parking in their garage for playing poker

I would agree with above and strongly suggest the bravo app and pokeratlas.com is helpful for locating tourneys.

I think the cash game at Mandalay Bay is very under rated for making a profit at a 1/2 game. The dealers are awesome and the drink rotations often.

For the inexperienced friend, there are two daily tournaments for around $40 that are geared for beginners that sharks don't bother playing. But for the chip enthusiest, you get a cool over sized chip to commemorate your single table tourney domination.



cant go wrong playing tight aggressive versus of all of the fancy watches at the Aria, Venetian, and Belaggio

Golden Nugget downtown plays a fun 1/2 NL min buy in $50 with no max. rake sucks but lots of action

definitely the Flamingo late night in hopes of Harvesting a spotted bird

most of the total rewards casinos have decent early am tournaments with a guarantee (free money if not a lot of people show up). just remember they bring regular low stakes grinders and locals as well as novice and beginner players.

Which ones do you recommend for low skill level........asking for a friend....

I don't have my list of the most recent blind structures in front of me (I'm at work), but from memory my preference (given my lesser skill levels) are:

• Caesars: it's a competitive blind structure, and geared toward 4-5 hours before chops are discussed. Mrs Zombie has had some strong finishes there.
• Mandalay Bay: Blinds roughly double every 15 minutes, but the drink service is spot on. I've binked here and frequently run deep. Just remember that you are closer to being pot committed than your chips to current blinds (M factor to skilled players) indicate, because the blinds may quadruple before you get another playable hand. Runs about 3-4 hours, which number of hands wise, is about what my home game gets in.
• The Mirage: 50-75% blind increases, but usually are roughly 2 table events. Fewer punters = fewer bad beats you need to dodge.

Now if your "friend" really sucks, go to the Excalibur. It's pretty awful, and is filled with people that still think there is a strategy to win on the slots. There is enough mystical voodoo in this game to drive a skilled player batty, but the people are fun characters. Just really, really fun. Just don't think about tilting when a gutshot draw calles your trip aces jam, and they hit.
