Ive got a 4-8 person table for tournament, i have non denominated chips, no re buys, and only want a game to last no longer than 2 hours. What ideas or advice can you give me. I’m still new to poker and so are my friends but we are all learning quickly.

White, Red, Blue, Green, Black. They are just the standard cheapest poker chips
I guessing 100 of each?

You can do T5 tourney with standard colour to help familiar with the denomination

Red as $5
Green as $25
Black as $100
Blue as $500

10/10/7/2 $2k starting stack

2. Run tournaments that last longer than two hours.
Seriously though for a 2 hour tournament either you have to start super short stacked, or the blind levels have to be super turbo. Neither one is great.

Getting chips with denominations is a nice upgrade, but if you're all new to poker dice chips will work fine (*ducks as he says it* - that won't be a popular opinion around here). As long as you always use the same denominations your players shouldn't have issues (or you can use an app like "blinds are up" that lets you label the denominations so people can see them on a screen).
The most standard denominations would be probably be white 1, red 5, green 25, black 100, blue 500. A lot of people would just skip the 1s and start with 5s though so then the white wouldn't get used.

This should give you some idea of what a T1 setup would look like: https://www.pokerchipforum.com/thre...rnament-set-stacks-t1-base.44089/post-1134244 (T1 meaning the smallest chip in play is denomination 1). There aren't a lot of T1 structures out there but you could get by with using a T100 structure and dividing by 100 (something like these: https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/basic-tournament-set-breakdowns-for-beginners-updated.49446/).

This is also a useful resource for starting stacks/blind structures when starting out if you haven't checked it out yet. It has an option for both T5 and T100. https://docs.google.com/presentatio...CxPxCk4t2iMOW68c94QQaEgquQ/present?slide=id.p

Note: None of the structures you'll find here will be designed to end your tournament in 2 hours.

I now aim for 6 hours including breaks. However, we used to have super fun back during the boom running 2 or 3 2h STT per poker night. So I won't shun it.

In case it helps, we started with 3k stacks, 25/50 blinds with "standard" increments.

This works well for a quick tournament. To get it under 2 hours I’d say 12 minute blinds 10/20, 20/40, 30/60, 50/100, 75/150, 100/200, 150/300, 200/400, 300/600, 500/1000. The turboness of it irks me but that’s the only way to finish the game that quickly.
