Best Playing Cards (1 Viewer)

Whats up fellow Chicago Burbs resident. I've seen a post by someone who listed many of the different card options by all their various properties (stiffness, thickness, texture, etc.). I'll try and find it again.

I've recently gotten into hosting games in the past 8 months or so, and currently have a set up each of Copag's, Angel Arista's, and Modiano's.

Modiano's are by far my favorite. They are the stiffest of the 3, which is what I like. Texture is best as well, IMO.

I want to get a Desjgn set up next I think.

Modiano (platinum acetates) are the best playing cards in existence.

Anyone wanting super stiff cards, have you considered the impact of dealing (and shuffling) stiff cards for hours? Ugh…

Nope. They will clearly be labeled platinum acetate. They are made of acetate, and are around 2x the cost of those in the link.
Do you know by chance which version of Modianos they are? Only because I would like to know the stats on them from Rednecks database. These are my favorite cards I’ve purchased thus far, so I’d like to know their stats if possible, to compare to others in that database

The Modiano manufactured desjgn's (Grand Victorian V1 poker jumbo and Caicos Casino bridge jumbo) are IMO the best cards ever made.

It's a shake that they will never be made again and that Modiano left desjgn high and dry when a printing error on a subsequent order was pointed out and they refused to reprint the order.

Another vote for Design. I'm not sure what you mean by heavy, but they are plastic and have a slightly textured feel to them. They glide well over neoprene felts and shuffle nicely due to not being too stiff.

Not sure what you mean by heavy. I'm going to guess you mean stiff (which isn't the same as thickness, btw.)
On the stiffer side of things, Fournier and Trefl are pretty good.

I’m Desjgns biggest fan …but you need to recommend a certain model. His decks are from several different stocks all varying in feel quite a bit.
Fair point. For me, it's the poker sized Classic Victorians V2 on Modiano stock (orange / purple / green / brown). The current V3 red/blue and black/yellow on Dal Negro stock are very nice, but I do have a soft spot for the V2 version.

As mentioned, any answer is subjective to what we all prefer. I started playing with Copag, and like them in poker size, in the various molds they make. I find that Modiano are too thin for my liking. Lately, I enjoy playing with EPT Fournier poker size.
I have heard good reviews from Broken Arrow cards that @justincarothers is selling on a group buy, so I have 4 of those poker size decks hopefully coming in my possession soon.

What would you say are the main differences between them, in your opinion?

His earlier releases were more flexible. He recent are a bit stiffer
More texture on the newer runs with Dal Negro stock too.

The V2 Modianos shuffle like butter. It's a shame that they screwed Jason. Modiano seems like they're going under and they deserve 100% of it. Shame because orders from desjgn could have kept them in business for years to come.

If still like to know exactly what stock that was. Because I felt it was better than standard Modiano stock. I’ve still never handled Platinums, but the redneck database said those were a bit stiffer, so I’m guessing it wasn’t that. Then again, the redneck datase wasn’t always 100% correct. But yeah, the older Modiano Desjgns were better than modianos.

Jason may be able to better answer but it's possible that it was a proprietary stock. They were definitely more forgiving than the Platinum line that was stiffer, but they were stiffer than the Texas Poker line, which were some of the most flexible cards I've ever handled.

Piatnik when you can get them
They've got 2 plastic poker size decks. One with 4 regular index and one is mini index.
No 2 index (J/R) !
And a single/double deck bridge size plastics.

But tons of paper card decks. All sort of cards - huge stock. And a custom service (paper only).

Have you seen any poker size plastic jumbo 2 index?
